What are the responsibilities and job description for the Distribution Center Warehouse Associate / Back-up Driver position at Hormann North America?
Job Summary:
The candidate will be responsible for receiving product in the facility, loading and unloading trucks and making deliveries on an as needed basis.
Major Responsibilities/Activities:
Warehouse Associate:
- Assist in shipping and receiving, unloading trucks, and checking in material.
- Reading customer orders, work orders, shipping orders, or requisitions to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed and/or shipped.
- Moving materials and items from receiving or storage areas to shipping or to other designated areas.
- Loading trucks in a safe and orderly manner to ensure that products arrive at customer’s location in good condition.
- Sorting and placing materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, color, or product code.
- Ensuring warehouse is accessible and safe for employees, sales staff, and customer traffic.
- Assembling customer orders from stock and placing orders on pallets or shelves, or relocating orders to a holding area or shipping area.
- Marking materials with identifying information using appropriate method.
- Assisting in counting of physical inventory.
- Sweeping, dusting, and mopping.
- Organizing work area for orderliness at all times.
- Wearing the proper safety equipment.
- Other duties as assigned.
Back-Up Box Truck Delivery Driver:
- Pre-trip inspection of truck. Inform supervisor of any problems or maintenance issues relating to the truck.
- Operate truck in a safe manner by obeying speed limits and traffic laws.
- Heavy lifting required to unload product at customer destination.
- Handling and/or processing of related paperwork, as required.
- Provide outstanding customer service during delivery and pickup operations.
- Develop and maintain good rapport with customers.
- Driver must be respectful of our company image at all times.
- Assist with loading delivery vehicles.
- Maintain and count inventory.
Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Must be capable of obtaining certification to operate power equipment.
- Must have a valid DOT physical card and a valid Class C driver’s license.
- Must have a clean, professional appearance.
- Must have a thorough grasp on the DOT rules and regulations regarding driving hours of service.
- Be able to pass a pre-employment DOT drug screen and background check.
- No DUI or License suspensions in the last 5 years.
- Must be a “self-managing” employee.
- Capable of driving for prolonged periods of time.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, squat to perform loading/unloading assignment(s).
- Must be able to read and interpret, in English, job related documents and possess good to excellent communication skills.
- Must be able to identify products by way of work related documents such as pick lists, work orders, shipping documents, etc.
- Must be able to maintain focus of tasks at hand with high level of attention to detail.
- Must be able to follow an established routine and able to interact in a team environment.
