RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Manages, coaches, and develops two salaried and one office hourly personnel on the nut and crop procurement wing of the Commodity Trading Department. 
• Supports supply chain of the future activities that help to modernize and automate key procurement functions. 
• Negotiates, reviews, and approves contract agreements with suppliers for peanuts and cashews. 
• Develops and implements strategy for enterprise-wide nut procurement initiatives. 
• Monitors global market conditions and events to minimize the negative impact of price changes.
• Establishes and develops positive supplier relationships while maintaining business integrity. 
• Leads monthly commodity market reviews with internal and external key stakeholders.
• Works with various Hormel enterprise locations and with the MRP group to understand supply/demand and to mitigate supply issues.
• Works with Supply Planning to determine forecast requirements, to help determine raw material volume needs.
• Works with R&D on periodic review of nut specifications and alternate raw material opportunities.
• Manages complex projects across the enterprise to drive cost savings.
• Supports Hormel initiatives around sustainability and philanthropy. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or related field 
• 7 years of experience in Procurement or Supply Chain, leading improvements within category 
• Broad procurement and business knowledge related to sourcing and negotiations 
• Strong core procurement skills, and strong stakeholder engagement 
• Demonstrated leadership skills with high resiliency and speed of trust 
• Demonstrated pattern of initiative and ability to work independently 
• Demonstrated effective interpersonal and leadership skills 
• Demonstrated effective persuasive and relationship building skills 
• Proven problem-solving, decision-making, and negotiation skills 
• Strong verbal and written communication and organization skills 
• Must be a Citizen or National of the United States, or a lawful, permanent resident, or have authorization to work in the Unites States

LOCATION: Austin, MN (global headquarters) or the Planters Corporate Office in Chicago, IL

A comprehensive relocation package to the Austin, MN area or Chicago, IL area will be offered, if required.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: Travel may be necessary 10% of the time

BENEFITS: Hormel Foods offers an excellent benefits package. Competitive base salary plus bonus, annual merit increase performance reviews, medical, dental, vision, profit sharing, non-contributory pension, 401(k), stock purchase plan, relocation assistance, paid vacation. 

The base pay range is $101,500 - $159,500 per year; however, actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge, skill set, level of experience, and specific office location.
