General Job Description

Requires warehouse work consisting of operating a customer service counter, receiving and making deliveries, inventory control and stocking shelves. Loading and unloading equipment onto trucks and trailers, attaching trailers to trucks. Must be able to work in all weather conditions. Due to the complexity of the Fire-Rescue Department, Trades Workers assigned duties may change daily. This is a physically demanding position which will include routinely lifting/moving heavy objects. This position requires the applicant to be in good physical condition. The applicant must be able to work independently as well as part of a team. Reports to Fire Captain/Logistics Officer. Must be able to multitask. This position will require you to maintain several projects at the same time. Must be able to manage Air pack, Medical Cot and Extrication equipment repairs and PM’s. Must be able to attend classes and obtain multiple certifications to repair and PM Medical Cots, SCBA and extrication equipment. Must obtain within 6 months of employment. Must be mechanically inclined and have the ability to work with tools, computers and diagnostic equipment. Previous experience repairing and maintaining SCBA, Medical Cots and extrication equipment preferred. Operates vehicles, including forklifts and pallet jacks - Read and interpret drawings - Give and interpret oral and written directions - Work with others and independently - Operation of maintenance equipment, pallet jacks and powered pallet lifters - Ability to work in adverse weather conditions/and extended periods during storm/weather events -

Duties for this Position
  • Troubleshoots and repairs all Scott SCBA air packs, RIT packs, cylinders, and masks. Installs equipment on all new and existing apparatus as needed. Maintains accurate account of parts and equipment using logistics database. Creates a record of maintenance after each repair. Orders all necessary replacement parts, maintains a bench stock of repair parts and chemicals, manages receipt of all items, and forwards to correct parties for payment. Performs audit of equipment and parts inventory annually. Completes trend analysis on all repairs. Manages and annotates repair actions in Station Check database. Completes annual flow testing on all air packs and RIT-packs and maintains flow test records. Coordinates hydro-testing of all SCBA cylinders through third-party agency. Ensures Posi-Check equipment receives annual calibration through third-party agency. Ensures all service bulletins issued by Scott Safety are completed in a timely manner. Processes and ships all warranty parts through Scott Plus. Programs all packs to reflect correct apparatus and seat assignment and retrieves data from packs following an incident or as needed by command staff. Conducts safety inspections on equipment and reports findings to safety officers. Coordinates repair of all other Scott SCBA related components (Pak-Tracker, Scott software, etc.). Coordinates sale of used equipment with other agencies. Generates reports and other supporting documentation for command staff, as needed. Troubleshoots and repairs all FERNO iN/X stretchers, EZ Glide stair chairs, and Inline stretcher charging mounts. Installs equipment on all new and existing apparatus as needed. Maintains accurate account of parts and equipment using logistics database. Creates a record of maintenance after each repair. Orders all necessary replacement parts, maintains a bench stock of repair parts and chemicals, manages receipt of all items, and forwards to correct parties for payment. Performs audit of equipment and parts inventory annually. Completes trend analysis on all repairs. Manages and annotates repair actions in Station Check database. Ensures all service bulletins issued by FERNO are completed in a timely manner. Performs annual scheduled maintenance on all stretchers and stair chairs. Coordinates warranty repairs and parts replacement with FERNO customer service. Conducts stretcher and stair chair training with all new hires and current employees, as needed, to ensure safety and compliance. Participates in IRB’s, as needed, following incidents. Conducts safety inspections on equipment and reports findings to safety officers. Coordinates the sale of used equipment with other agencies. Generates reports and other supporting documentation for command staff, as needed. Troubleshoots and repairs all Holmatro rescue tools. Installs equipment on all new and existing apparatus as needed. Maintains accurate account of parts and equipment using logistics database. Orders all necessary replacement parts, maintain a bench stock of repair parts and chemicals, manages receipt of all items, and forwards to correct parties for payment. Performs audit of equipment and parts inventory annually. Completes trend analysis on all repairs. Manages and annotates repair actions in Station Check database. Ensures all service bulletins issued by Holmatro are completed in a timely manner. Coordinates annual scheduled maintenance of all rescue tools. Facilitates all warranty repairs with Holmatro representatives. Conducts safety inspections on equipment and reports findings to safety officers. Coordinates rescue tool training with Holmatro representatives. Generates reports and other supporting documentation for command staff, as needed. Performs minor maintenance on pumping equipment, generators, and other pieces of equipment as needed. Maintains accurate account of parts and equipment using logistics database. Ensures all service bulletins issued by manufacturers are completed in a timely manner. Coordinates with equipment manufacturers to receive parts, initiate warranties, and shipment for off-site repairs. Creates a record of maintenance for each repair. Manages receipt of all repair items and forwards to correct parties for payment. Performs audits of equipment and parts annually. Completes trend analysis on repairs. Generates reports and other supporting documentation for command staff, as needed. Performs other warehouse-related duties as necessary. This includes, but is not limited to, performing appliance installs at stations, completing weekly supply deliveries to stations, delivering miscellaneous items to stations (furniture, gear lockers, beds, etc.), and pick-up/drop-off of items to administration and training. Also assists with gear/uniform issues to new recruits, unloading deliveries, and assisting customers.
Position Minimum Requirements
  • High School Graduate or GED - Must be detail oriented - Must be organized - Must be in good physical condition - Ability to obtain CPR and Basic First Aid Certifications - Ability to safely drive large vehicles and pull trailers - Valid South Carolina Driver's License is required (CDL perferred) - Must be available to work extended work hours during special events, storms and as needed to support the mission of the Fire Rescue Department - Basic computer skills required, strong skills preferred - General knowledge of Fire/EMS supplies and equipment is preferred. - Must pass a criminal background check, pre-employment physical & drug screening - Ability to frequently lift 75 lbs. unassisted and 150 lbs. assisted. Push, pull and lift on a repetitive basis - Pass annual physical exam
