Job Summary:
The Manager of Marketing and Development is a motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. This position has direct reports and will be accountable for managing Hospice Alliance efforts in four key areas:

  • Direct marketing to care partners and referral sources
  • Outreach and advertising
  • Community relationships
  • Philanthropy

Responsibilities:

  • Formulates the annual Marketing and Development plan with the collaboration of the Board Marketing and Development Committees.
  • Oversees the implementation of outreach and fundraising events and materials to increase donations, charitable giving, and estate planning.
  • Develops strategies to strengthen referrals and partnerships through direct marketing and education to referral sources.
  • Utilizes data to develop strategies that will strengthen referral relationships and build meaningful partnerships.
  • Leads in the development of all marketing communication materials to strengthen our brand identity.
  • Serves as a spokesperson and lead point person on media interactions that help promote and/or impact the organization.
  • Exercises judgement to prioritize media opportunities, and prepares talking points, speeches, presentations, and other supporting material as needed.
  • Provides management and direction to the staff and volunteers working in the marketing development and department.
  • Serves on the board Marketing Development and Committee and other committees as assigned. This includes developing agendas, minutes, and keeping records of the meetings.
  • Oversees the management of the Hospice Alliance website and electronic marketing materials.
  • Maintain a comprehensive working knowledge of Hospice Alliance markets including, major payer sources, key referral sources, and competitors market positioning.
  • Ensure the agency’s fundraising, marketing and donor databases are kept current and used to their full potential.
  • Philanthropic aspects of role, include, but are not limited to cultivating and soliciting strategies, soliciting, and closing gifts, coordinating, and implementing successful fundraising and donor recognition events. Implementing strategic appeals with a goal of donor acquisition, retention, and growth. Will work collaboratively to develop standard and custom appeals and donor-facing communications and handle personal contact with donor constituents, including sponsors, individuals, volunteers, and organizations.
  • Sends and updates donor thank you letters, ensuring proper recognition of donors and memorial notifications, and maintains and updates the donor wall per policy.
  • Researches and identifies potential funding sources, grant writing.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Creative and thoughtful on how new media technologies can be utilized.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and coach team members.
  • Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal and presentation skills and the ability to effectively work with employees, senior management, and Hospice Alliance Board of Directors.
  • Must be able to work well under pressure meeting multiple priorities and sometimes competing deadlines.
  • Attend current and potential referral source programs and events.
  • Attend current and potential donor source programs and events.
  • Participate in health/vendor fairs, educational opportunities to highlight Hospice Alliance’s Hospice, Supportive Care and Bereavement programs.
  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a related field such as marketing, communications, or non-profit management from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience planning, writing, editing, and production of newsletters, press releases, annual reports, marketing literature, and other print publications.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $65,000.00 per year
