What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accountant position at Hospice Buffalo?
Hybrid work schedule
Maintains general accounting functions. Maintains compliance with generally accepted accounting procedures (GAAP). Ensures the accurate and timely general ledger and period-end closings. Prepares balance sheets, profit and loss statements, data forecasts, cash flow data, and other reports. Reconciles assets and liabilities. Conducts asset valuations and participates in budget preparation and year end audit.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintains general accounting functions in accordance with GAAP and established policies and procedures.
- Prepares and analyzes monthly Financial Statements and corresponding General Ledger account reconciliations.
- Analyzes trends and costs & forecasts revenue and expenses.
- Assists in year-end audit and budget preparation, regulatory reporting requirements, and cost reporting.
- Offers suggestions on cost saving measures and resource utilization.
- Uses analytical abilities to apply knowledge and provide working solutions.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required.
Experience- Minimum two (2) years of experience in staff accountant position.
- Working knowledge of GAAP and Not-for-Profit Accounting compliance.
