Part Time RN position at our Poppen Residence. This is a day shift, 12 hour shift position, 7am-7pm - NO WEEKENDs!
SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The RN provides skilled professional nursing care to the patient/family/caregiver as prescribed by the physician and in compliance with regulations as established by the State Board of Registered Nursing, the patient and the policies of Harbor Hospice.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES (other duties may be assigned)
- Maintains the confidentiality of patient and employee information at all times, both at work and off duty, and after the termination of employment according to the agencies’ Notice of Privacy Practices and HIPAA regulations.
- Is knowledgeable and functional in computer applications including database, word processing, spreadsheet, and e-mail system as required for the execution of the job.
- Knowledge of hospice concept and philosophy.
- Assess patient appropriateness for hospice services.
- Observe and assess patient/family/care giver and develop plan of care.
- Medication for patient assessed for need and effectiveness on an ongoing basis using comprehensive physical assessment.
- Incorporate safety and teaching into plan of care.
- Individual as well as Group consultation to keep Team advised of patient status.
- Performs knowledge of venipuncture and port lab draws; IV starts as necessary.
- Knowledge related to use of IV and enteral feeding pumps; operations and maintenance.
- Completes appropriate charting in either written or electronic format.
- Demonstrates tact, patience and maintains professional appearance in accordance with the agency dress code.
- Demonstrates proper hand washing, asepsis, bag technique and standard precautions.
- Prepare for and collaborate in an effective discharge plan.
- Demonstrate and teach patient/family/care giver proper usage of DME and supplies.
- Provide CENA supervision in accordance to Medicare regulations.
- Orients staff and volunteers.
- Provides oversight of patient chart to meet accreditation and regulatory standards.
- Acts as charge nurse, when designated at beginning of shift.
- While active charge nurse, will carry emergency keys during duration of shift and assign responsibility to staff for the direct nursing care of patients during tour of duty.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
- Is a graduate of an accredited school of Nursing and holds a current license in the state of Michigan.
- Possesses and maintains a current CPR certification.
- Licensed to drive with an automobile that is insured in accordance with state and/or organization requirements and is in operating condition and maintained.
