The Environment of Care & Life Safety Program Manager ensures safe practices and regulatory compliance in all facilities System-wide. Responds to and provides follow-up to health, safety, and environmental issues related to proper chemical hygiene practices and other health, safety, and environmental issues to department and site management. Monitors and reports on Environmental Health and Safety concerns. Ensures compliance with applicable regulations and the Joint Commission Environment of Care Standards. Assists with the evaluation of program goals and objectives and development of annual reports.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Environmental Health and Safety, Construction Management or related field required.
Master’s degree in Business, Engineering, Construction Management, Environmental Health and Safety or related field preferred.
High School diploma plus 5 years of experience in healthcare hazardous waste management, life safety, environment of care, engineering, or construction management may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree.
Experience
At least 5 years of healthcare facilities management, life safety, environment of care and/or hazardous waste is required. (This experience is in addition to any experience used in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree).
2 years of regulatory compliance and/or healthcare survey and audit experience is required. Experience with collaborating and leading initiatives in partnership with senior leadership required. Experience with monitoring communication software (i.e., Microsoft, Building Automation Systems, Computerizes Maintenance Management System) is preferred.
Certifications, Licenses and Registrations
Completion of Joint Commission Environment of Emergency Command Center and Exploring the Life Safety Chapter Training is required or must be obtained within one year of hire date.
Certified Life Safety Specialist (CLSS) or other advanced certification in accreditation or National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) is preferred.
AHA Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM) and/or Certified Healthcare Safety Professional (CHSP) is preferred.
