As an integral part of a team, the Security Supervisor is responsible for continuously looking for ways to improve each guest’s experience from providing exceptional guest service to providing a safe and secure hotel environment for our guests and staff in an effective, professional and exceptional guest service manner.  Provide such services in accordance with legal requirements.  Direct proactive rounds and inspections of front and back of the house areas.  Direct proactive hotel safety and loss prevention efforts and emergency drills in an active ongoing schedule.  Additionally, he or she will assist the Director of Safety & Security with conducting investigations and providing timely follow-up concerning all hotel safety and security related issues.  He or she will utilize all cost-effective technologies and techniques to provide effective and seamless provision of security services. This position is responsible for the oversight of contract security shift services and ensuring that the contract security also follows all company and legal policies and procedures and is fully trained.  He or she will assist the Director of Safety & Security with actively training staff and management in all safety issues and actively work with hotel managers on safety and security.  Additionally, the Security Supervisor will assist the Director of Safety and Security and work with Human Resources to maintain accurate records regarding any employee investigations and employee injuries to ensure proper work injury related records are maintained.  He or she will assist the Director of Safety & Security with the direction of all loss prevention programs and lost and found standards of the Hotels and Resorts of Halekulani.   ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Must be able to maintain the utmost confidentiality and privacy in dealing with job responsibilities. During patrols, look out for suspicious or undesirable persons.  Call HPD for assistance and escort off property if warranted. Effectively communicate upward, downward and laterally. Use the required security department forms to document loss prevention, safety and policy violation activities. Report all violations of hotel and company policy to the Director of Safety and Security. Ensure they are functioning properly and that staff are in compliance with all policies and procedures. Use proper radio procedure in accordance with FCC and hotel policy. Enforce the hotel’s employee entrance/exit policy. Protect and follow the HRH’s policy and procedure for all keys and key controls. Escort and witness cash drops when requested. Work with the outside security vendor to schedule, review and discipline security officers. All overtime must be approved by the Director of Safety and Security.  Flex labor when hotel revenues or business is down. Ensure locker inspections are occurring once a quarter or as determined. All reports are accurate, well written and timely for managers and staff. In the absence of the Director Safety and Security, attend morning briefings, Monday – Friday, and any other meeting where Security is needed. Have a good and effective working relationship with local law enforcement, neighboring hotels and other businesses. Maintain good and effective working relationships with managers at HRH properties. Enforce the parking policy and procedures. Have good working knowledge of the hotel’s guest room key system. Oversee daily administration of the hotel’s key control program. Training is to be signed off on by the Director of Safety and Security and kept on file. All training on safety and security equipment to be signed off on by all employees and managers. Work with the Hotel’s outsourced parking company. Outstanding leadership, planning and communication skills (oral and written). Assist the Director of Safety and Security with developing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating the HRH’s safety and security Standard Operating policies and procedures, including emergency preparedness, asset protection and compliance with OSHA standards. Enforce safety programs. Excellent time management and organizational skills are necessary to be successful in this position as it is the Security Supervisor’s responsibility to assist the Director of Safety and Security with coordinating/providing the timely preparation of all security logs, shift reports and other permanent records. Must have thorough knowledge of HRH policies and procedures. Individual must have excellent attention to detail. A polished and professional appearance in compliance with HRH’s dress and grooming guidelines and a professional and courteous demeanor. Good attendance and being on time for scheduled shifts and assignments. The flexibility to work according to business needs but should expect to, and be able to work weekends, holidays, evening and overnight shifts. Must have the legal right to work in the United States and have appropriate documentation to substantiate this requirement. Must be able to read, write and communicate in the English language. Perform reasonable job requests as assigned by the Director of Safety and Security, the General Manager and/or other HRH Corporate officers. This document is subject to change when necessary by the HRH. Perform all other duties as may be required or assigned. SUPERVISORY REQUIREMENTS Reports To:  Director of Safety and Security        Supervises: Security Dispatcher         EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE College degree or equivalent experience. A minimum of five years’ experience in law enforcement, or as a Security Officer, Security Supervisor, or guest service related field, managing staff. Any combination of education and experience which would provide the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to meet the minimum qualifications to perform the essential functions of this position. OSHA training certification preferred. LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS First Aid/CPR/AED Certification Certificate in Safety and Security and/or law enforcement officer preferred. Training in law enforcement techniques, highly desirable. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES Ability to anticipate guest needs; respond promptly and acknowledge all guests. Ensure familiarity with all hotel services and features. Thorough knowledge of local, State and Federal laws pertaining to the activities of safety and security staff is required. Thorough knowledge of HIOSH/OSHA regulations. Knowledge and use of computers and software (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint) is required. Ability to remain calm under pressure. Ability to lead a team. Working knowledge of hotel emergency procedures. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands and work environment characteristics described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Ability to use a keyboard. Ability to sit, stand, walk and bend for up to 4 hours throughout the work shift. Ability to climb stairs. Frequent head/neck rotation, elbow flexion and rapid finger motions. Ability to lift/transport up to 45 pounds. Endure various physical activities throughout the work areas. Remain in stationary position for up to 2 hours throughout the work shift. Sensory, good speech for clear communications and good sight for performing inspections and administrative duties. WORK ENVIRONMENT Indoor, air-conditioned environment. Outdoor, non-air-conditioned environment. Exposure to various temperature conditions. Variable noise levels.
