ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensure safety regulations, regulatory controls, policies, and procedures are followed.
Assist in the management of the Corrective Action System
Drive 5S efforts, stress good housekeeping and the maintenance of “as new” attractiveness for the entire plant.
Implement & support Lean Manufacturing methodology to achieve operational goals.
Monitor productivity, reduce scrap and downtime
Must have basic knowledge of injection molding machines, injection molds, processes pertaining to injection molding and various auxiliary equipment used in injection molding.
Must have basic knowledge of packaging, converting or processing ie. extrusion, injection or blow molding industries.
Must be able to instruct employees and delegate work to be done with knowledge of personnel duties and abilities.
Must be able to determine jobs to run and appropriate needs for those jobs.
Must complete end-of-shift reports, using information from operator scrap reports, transfer logs, and computer generated reports, and ensure accuracy.
Must ensure that proper work instructions are placed at presses whenever a job change occurs.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Accomplishes manufacturing staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees, initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies and procedures.
Promote team building and ensure that all production teams are functional
Ensure accurate & efficient communication between all departments & production personnel
Assign work to employees in the Plastics Department and monitor them to ensure completion of tasks assigned and ensure that assigned work is completed in a safe manner.
Manage attendance, formal problem solving, and disciplinary process for employees in accordance with personnel Policies manual.
Maintains quality by establishing and enforcing quality standards.
Ensure that presses are kept on proper cycle.
Check set-ups for areas/operations of improvements.
Train new employees assigned to the Packaging / Plastics Department.
Under the guidance of the Production Manager, maintain work flow by monitoring steps of the process; setting processing variables; observing control points and equipment; monitoring personnel and resources; studying methods; implementing cost reductions; developing reporting procedures & systems; facilitating corrections to malfunctions within process control points; initiating and fostering a spirit of cooperation within & between departments.
