CAD Designer

The CAD Designer will produce pattern designs using Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools. Also support telecom design projects, and varying low voltage designs, as well as new build development design including technical spec drafting, interior design/ architectural space planning of residential, hospitality, commercial structures, OSP and ISP.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Collaborate with design originators to resolve discrepancies between original drawings and final CAD designs producing complex technical drawings from concept plan to construction documents.
2. Communicate with Construction Director on a regular basis.
3. Prepare detail drawings of products from sketches using CAD equipment and associated peripheral equipment and software.
4. Perform non-complex detailing, redrawing, lettering and tracing of drawings on components, assemblies and engineering change orders.
5. Ensure that drawings incorporate all design features and maintain the product style.
6. Contribute design modifications to improve the product quality and function.
7. Will take direction from engineers on new product development as well as sustaining and cost reduction projects.
8. Read and understand architectural plans; site specific foundation layout for commercial and residential projects.
9. Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
10. Work with local entities to apply and obtain permits according to their specifications.
11. Other duties as required or assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent education and/or experience preferred
• At least three years’ experience as CAD designer in a service provider in a similar role
• Strong understanding and practical experience with AutoCAD, base-mapping, fundamental knowledge of running line, conduit, cable design fiber optics, manholes, and hand holes
• Strong understanding and practical experience with permitting protocols
• Knowledge of design tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models
• Proven ability to successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook email)
• Must possess good written and oral presentation skills and the ability to communicate ideas effectively to coworkers, senior management.
• Comfortable and effective working with senior-level executives and external entities.
