Title: Thrift Shop Associate
Reports to: Thrift Shop Manager
Status: part-time to a maximum of 15-20 hours per week
Work Schedule: weekdays, weekends, evenings and holidays
Salary: $16/hr.
JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the Thrift Shop Manager, the Thrift Shop Associate is responsible for, among other things, providing excellent service to guests, sort incoming product, receive donations, as applicable, and assist the Shop Manager in the maintenance of all store operations. On a daily basis, the Associate will positively impact our guests, donors, volunteers, and the communities in which we operate.
‘Hour’ Associate is a retail enthusiast who is service focused, can maintain their composure, and has the ability to communicate and build relationships, both internal and external. In doing so, the Associate will be action oriented, drive results, and will strive to become an expert in their role through continuous self-development and learning.
The Associate, is part of a hands-on work environment where it is required to physically move through our operation while adhering to daily goals. We are operational 7 days a week and schedule our employees based on operational needs – including weekdays, evenings, weekends and holidays.
Duties and Responsibilities:
On the sales floor –
- Acknowledge guests and assist with their shopping needs
- Provide prompt, efficient and accurate checkout service
- Promote upcoming sales or special fundraising events
- Maintaining neat, clean and orderly sales floor and check out areas
- Assist Store Manager when setting up displays
- Know current inventory to better assist customers
- Answer the telephone in a professional and courteous manner
- Replenish product
In Production Area –
- Receive, assist, and thank guests for their donations
- Unpack, lift and move boxes and bags of donated items
- Sort through donations and evaluate items for quality and condition
- Assist in arranging in space planning for ever changing inventory
- Price items according to manager input
- Place clothing on hangers and items on racks and distribute to the appropriate area on the sales floor
- Prepare stock to make ready for display on sales floors
- Execute additional duties as assigned by Shop Manager
Specifications for Physical Requirements (as applicable):
- Ability to engage in minor or moderate physical labor
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.

- Approachable with good interaction/people skills
- Good written and oral communication
- Eye for detail
- Dependability and punctuality
- Possess the ability to learn cash, pricing and sorting procedures, and product display and promotion guidelines
- Ability to work weekdays, weekends, evenings and holidays
