SUMMARY:  The Environmental, Health and Safety Specialist is focused on the development and maintenance of our safety culture and driving regulatory compliance. The EH&S Specialist, reporting to the EH&S Manager, is responsible for overseeing the systems and processes that support the organization’s ability to achieve its safety goals. The EH&S Specialist is responsible for building positive employee engagement around safety, health, sustainability, and risk mitigation.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Responsible for administering, and maintaining safety and health programs (OSHA PSM, MIOSHA, Industrial Hygiene, Injury, and Illness Reporting, etc.); and ensuring regulatory compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations as well as company policies and procedures.
  • Audits safety and health programs to assess process integrity and compliance.
  • Develops and modifies written operation procedures, consistent with the Process Safety Information (PSI) that provide clear instructions for safely conducting activities involved in each PSM covered process.
  • Develops and maintains training content. Delivers training in person or virtually as needed.
  • Serves as active member of HOF HAZMAT Team.
  • Represents organization at community response planning functions and processes.
  • Conducts accident investigations and reviews outcomes and action items with Operational leadership. Makes recommendations for improvements and assists in communicating resolution to affected employees.
  • Provides support for administration of worker’s compensation program to minimize cost, reduce lost time and coordinate return to work plans.
  • Supports environmental sustainability initiatives. Tracks hazardous and universal waste usage and coordinates appropriate disposal.
  • Completes all other duties as assigned, including working with department leaders to enhance the overall profitability of the operation.

 

These are not the only duties and responsibilities that the EH&S Specialist may be asked to perform, but it is a fair representation of the general duties that are required on a day-to-day basis.
