Environmental Beautification Associate

(Part-Time)

The Housing Authority of the County of Jackson, Illinois (?JCHA?) was established in 1946 and the first public housing was constructed in 1960. Since then, JCHA?s mission is to provide safe decent, and sanitary housing to low-income families, elderly families, disabled families, and low-income individuals in 6 towns throughout the County. The programs administered by JCHA consist of Public Housing Units, Housing Choice Vouchers, and 12 Multi-Family Housing units.

JCHA currently seeks an Environmental Beautification Associate to join the team part-time, with hours between 7:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., Monday through Friday.

The Environmental Beautification Associate is responsible for routine, heavy labor as it pertains to residential waste collection, vegetation collection, recycling efforts and unit cleanouts. The Environmental Beautification Associate reports to the Maintenance and Capital Improvements Coordinator and works with all site staff.

Compensation begins at $14.00/hr.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Responsible for representing himself\herself and the property in a professional manner with all residents, employees, and vendors, including both oral and written communication. Always presents a professional image of himself\herself.
2. Responsible for working with all site personnel effectively and productively.
3. Collect waste door-to-door within an assigned apartment community and transfer it to the trash receptacles onsite. Collection must begin and end at the designated time.
4. Inspect and maintain trash collection areas regularly. Picks up trash and spilled refuse along curbs and roads.
5. Maintain the appearance of the assigned properties.
6. Clean and sweep property of loose trash and debris regularly.
7. Drives utility vehicles on an established waste collection route.
8. Performs at a constant pace in all weather conditions.
9. Lifting, extensive walking, and pulling/pushing heavy carts.
10. Inspect and maintain all on-site waste collection stations
11. Assists the Property Manager as needed with maintenance functions such as ensuring that all property and grounds are maintained according to company policy.
12. Performs special assignments as needed or as requested by the supervisor.
13. Executes such other responsibilities as determined by the supervisor.
14. Reads, and responds to emails, Team Messages, and phone calls during business hours.
15. Performs all other duties as assigned.

7. Train in First aid

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements (with or without accommodations)

3. Sufficient body movement to drive a car, climb, bend, and kneel
4. Dexterity to manipulate tools
5. Sufficient strength to lift up to 75 pounds
6. Physical capability to tolerate height
7. Ability to operate a vehicle observing legal & defensive driving habits

Education/Specific Requirements

1. Continuously holds an Illinois Driver?s License with an insurable driving record or ability to obtain one (1) within thirty (30) days of hire.
