What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part-Time Video Analyst position at Houston Dash?
POSITION SUMMARY:
Houston Dash is seeking candidates for a Part-Time Video Analyst. This individual will help coordinate all First Team video recordings and assist the Performance Analyst and coaching staff in preparation for team usage. This is a flexible role that will help ensure all training sessions and home games are filmed, tagged, and uploaded to internal storage databases. In this role, you will assist in creating insights into the team’s on-field performance both in games and in training sessions. Additionally, the role will be asked to use the available data at our disposal to assist in analytical initiatives, operations, and processes related to soccer operations and its supporting departments.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage filming of training sessions for First Team through manual camera or drone.
- Be available for all in-market training sessions and home games.
- Open and responsive to special projects assigned by Performance Analyst and Head Coach.
- Other duties as assigned by Performance Analyst.
- Capture footage from Dash games and training with drone and video equipment
- Put together footage in a way that can help the technical staff formulate insights into the team’s on-field performance.
- Build and deploy analytical tools, metrics, and models in support of Soccer Operations’ initiatives and decision-making.
- Assist in data visualizations that communicate key ideas, principles, and findings in an easily accessible and compelling way.
- Maintain analysis equipment to ensure readiness.
SKILLS, ABILITIES & OTHER ATTRIBUTES:
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, particularly tasks that are time sensitive.
- Excellent time management skills, dependability, professionalism, and attention to details.
- Strong work ethic and a desire to build a career in professional sports.
- Must be able to move/lift up to 30lbs.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work with others.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Graduated with or working towards a degree in mathematics, engineering, computer science, data science, statistics or sports analytics
- Proficiency in operating and managing drones and video equipment
- Proficiency in commonly used analytical tools and programming languages such as SQL, R, and Python
- Familiarity with soccer analytics tools such as StatsBomb, Instat and Hudl
- An understanding of soccer tactics and performance
- Proficiency in data visualization principles, techniques, and software (Tableau, Power BI, RShiny, etc)
- Strong written, verbal, and visualization skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
