What are the responsibilities and job description for the Plumber position at Houston Zoo?
The Houston Zoo is seeking a skilled Plumber who has extensive experience working with installation, maintenance and repair of plumbing fixtures, water leaks, gas leaks, sanitary and storm lines. This position is ideal for a driven and team-oriented plumber that can manage keeping up with tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment working with many departments to meet specific needs. Must have a valid Texas Driver's License and comply with the Zoo policy on driving company vehicles. A strong understanding of industry practices is required. Ability to work on weekends and after hours for events as needed, required. Preferred experience – commercial, institutional, industrial, etc.

Responsibilities:
Maintains gas, sanitary, storm and potable water systems for the zoo
Performs daily plumbing functions including fixture install and repair, water and gas line repair, jetting drain lines and interceptors as required to keep the zoo operational
Keeps back flow devices in repair and inspections up to date with municipality requirements
Maintains sewer and storm lines in optimal performance with preventative maintenance procedures
Assembles and installs new plumbing, gas lines and systems as required
Conducts preventive maintenance check-ups for all systems
Repairs natural gas and gasoline piping systems within code requirements
Interprets building plans and blueprints
Being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 is a requirement for this position
Experience / Knowledge:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
Five years’ experience in commercial plumbing field, to include fabrication and installation work; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
Current State of Texas Tradesman Plumber or Journeyman License
Must have a valid Texas Class C driver’s license and comply with the policy on driving
