Howmet Fastening Systems is looking for a Supervisor, Quality . This position will be based in our Fullerton, CA plant. HFS is a business unit of Howmet Aerospace, headquartered in Torrance, California. We hold the number one global position in aerospace fastening systems, and we’re the North American leader in commercial transportation fasteners. Our high-tech, multi-material fastening systems are found nose to tail on aircraft and aerospace engines. Our products are also critical components of industrial gas turbines, automobiles, commercial transportation vehicles, and construction and industrial equipment.
Summary
Responsible for directing and assisting quality teams in obtaining efficient operation of the quality activities. Responsible for directing all testing, product, and process inspection. This includes physical, chemical, metallurgical, dimensional, non-destructive testing, tool and gage calibration services. Supervises Final and Receiving Inspection, Calibration, NDT, Source Inspection, and other Quality personnel.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Setting, in concurrence with the department manager, quality metrics and ensure that these goals are achieved for the assigned areas
- Direct the quality teams in evaluating quality of products to meet the customer’s quality and on-time delivery requirements.
- Supervise quality teams and individuals in compliance with company policies.
- Establish and oversee performance of appropriate physical and/or chemical tests, inspection and calibration procedures.
- Assist in the preparation of written instructions and technical directives for test and inspection activities.
- Participate in the development and execution of quality-related procedures and documentation based on Company, Government and/or Customer Requirements.
- Verify discrepancies and investigate its root causes.
- Develop and implement quality control methods for all manufactured products. Conduct investigation to establish inspection and calibration procedures and performance of these tasks.
- Review Engineering packages to ensure appropriate inspection methodology.
- Assure that inspection and calibration activities are conducted in the proper manner and insure the accuracy of inspection and calibration reports.
- Schedule/approve overtime, vacation and complete timekeeping requirements for all hourly employees.
- Occasionally attend daily Production Review Meeting.
- Ensure employees are taking all breaks and lunches within the required time period
- Interface with other departments to ensure short and long term goals and deadlines are accomplished
- Walk shop floor to ensure all employees are maintaining productivity standards
- Employee relations: promoting team work, coaching and counseling employees
- Ensures employees are in compliance with all company policies and procedures
- Coaches employees in their continuous improvement efforts
- Promotes continual improvement (ABS) where applicable
- Works in a safe manner that promotes the health and well-being of the individual and the environment
- Develops and implements department training plans
- Performs other tasks of equal or lesser skill as required.
Basic Qualifications
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution; OR a combination of ten years of related experience and education including two years in a supervisory role
- Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position
- This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulation (ITAR), which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. Green Card Holder), Political Asylee, or Refugee
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of five years’ experience in Product/Manufacturing and Quality Engineering.
- Certificate from Quality Institution such as CQE, CQA
Benefits/Salary:
The position includes competitive wages and a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance (medical, dental, vision), excellent 401k matching program, paid holidays and vacation. The salary range for this position is $69,000 to $104,000 per year.
