Howmet Engine Systems is currently seeking an experienced Operations professional to join our team in Hampton, Virginia. Job Summary: This position will work with the Process Owner (PO) team to assist with standardizing and improving processes in IGT Wax Department that will lead to high product yields of investment castings.

Essential Functions:
  • Assist with driving standardized processes and improvements in Wax Department.
  • Work with Wax Injection to optimize process and pattern quality.
  • May be asked to assist PO team in other departments.
  • Perform floor audits to check for compliance and reduce scrap.
  • Perform system audits and report critical key process steps to ensure excellent quality, with focus on reducing scrap.
  • Conduct trials and evaluations under the direction of the PO team.
  • Act as a conduit between manufacturing, engineering, and PO team to ensure that technical needs and requirements are communicated.
  • Assist with development and implementation of new materials and techniques.
  • Author new and revised work instructions (Activity Instructions, Product Criteria).
  • Perform data retrieval and data analysis in IPC, Excel, Power BI, and Minitab.

  • Ability to communicate with shop floor and management personnel.
  • Ability to organize, manage time and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Able to work in a self-directed or team environment.
  • Strong analytical/math and problem-solving abilities, including data analysis.
  • Forward thinker - must have the ability to innovate when the opportunity is presented.
, Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • H.S. degree or GED required. Some college is preferred.
  • Experience in manufacturing or a technical role.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and math skills.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft office tools (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma, SQL, Minitab and/or Lean Manufacturing preferred.
  • Knowledge of Wax injection and/or other wax processes preferred.
  • Must be available and willing to work off-shift hours and weekends on occasion with overtime, as needed.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines a U.S. person as an U.S. citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e., 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
