SUMMARY: This position is responsible for managing all facets of production within the Back-Side Coating, Hard Coating, Hi-Vision and Anti-Reflective areas through effective planning, directing, coordinating and controlling of employee activities. This position assumes the responsibility of ensuring all quality and customer needs are met.   REQUIRED DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE: Ability to administer managerial responsibilities properly, effectively and as necessary. Efficient scheduling of employees to maximize productivity and simultaneously minimize O.T. hours correctly. Demonstrated ability to properly monitor and maintain employee productivity and behavior. Ensure proper training and cross-training are both provided and successfully completed between all areas under your direction and that all SOP’s are correctly followed. Take personal ownership of the quality of the candidates hired and ensure that the hiring and interview process is fair and equitable to all. You must ensure that the most qualified candidates are selected, properly trained and given the best possible conditions to succeed in their role. You must accurately and timely monitor all attendance and vacation hours of your employees and address any infractions as they occur. Ensure that you personally spend most of each day working on the floor with your employees, setting the example, coaching, mentoring and training. Demonstrate a commitment to Safety by immediately addressing any safety violations, take any and all required safety training on time, properly complete required accidents and near miss documentation and report these to HR and the Safety Coordinator, ensure all employees are wearing the required PPE at all times, assist the Safety Coordinator in the correct root cause of all accidents or near misses, make all necessary changes to ensure a safe work environment for your associates and ensure they all attend required safety training as required. You must demonstrate the ability to identify and resolve problems in the correct manner and in the proper time frame.  Use of basic DMAIC processes is expected. You must ensure that actions, processes, training and results focus on quality and customer service. You must be able to understand production numbers to an acumen that shows you can react immediately to potential problems, teach your employees how to recognize those problems, then put competent resolutions in place to control those problems. You must complete basic machine, process and quality functions training. REQUIRED LEADERSHIP ABILITIES TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE: ·       Possess the ability to maintain calmness and reason when dealing with emotional issues and demonstrate a calm and professional demeaner when handling employee conflict. ·       Meet customer commitments consistently and adequately communicate any shortcomings on any commitments proactively and professionally. ·       Proven ability to focus on conflict resolution without finger-pointing or blame. ·       Demonstrated ability to maintain Hoya business confidentiality. ·       Demonstrated ability to earn the confidence of your employees by listening to them, sharing their ideas and maintaining confidentiality regarding associate matters. ·       Actively participate and contribute in leadership meetings. ·       You must possess the ability to speak clearly and persuasively in all situations. ·       Ensure that you create a culture in your area of responsibility that is objective, equates fairness to all associates, emphasizes openness to opposing views and builds a positive team spirit. ·       Have a DAILY plan of action for your team with clearly communicated goals and expectations for performance. ·       Demonstrated ability to effectively delegate responsibilities and match those responsibilities correctly to the skillset of the employee. ·       You must possess the ability to give proper and proportionate recognition for results received from deserving employees. ·       Demonstrated ability to both exhibit confidence and inspire confidence in your employees. ·       You must put plans in place to develop your employees and provide growth opportunities for them thru those means. ·       You must put improvement plans in place and provide demonstrated results. ·       You must demonstrate that you are respectful and sensitive to employees with cultural differences and be able to educate all members of your team on the values of a diverse work environment. ·       You must be able to competently follow all policies and procedures and operate from a position of strength, consistency and reliability thru those means.    QUALIFICATIONS:  Education Bachelor’s Degree preferred, however, a combination of education and experience may be accepted in lieu of a Bachelor’s Degree. Experience Minimum 5 years optical manufacturing experience, preferably in Anti-Reflective and HiVision capacities. Minimum 2 years of management experience. Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Spanish (bi-lingual) desirable. Proficient use of a PC including Excel, Word, Outlook and data entry skills. Knowledge of vacuum coating equipment including their design, repair and maintenance. General knowledge of strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources, leadership techniques, production methods and coordinating people. Must be familiar with safety and regulatory compliance. Must be able to work extended hours if necessary.   PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, talk, and hear for at least 8 hours.  The employee must able to lift and/or move up to 60lbs.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.  The laboratory environment is clean, quiet, and cold.  The employee will be exposed to caustic chemicals and electricity.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
