As part of HP's Advance Compute Solution (ACS) team, the Desktop Workstation (DTWS) R&D team is responsible for the end-to-end development of the HP Desktop Z Workstations, which are among highest performant computing systems in the industry.
This role is dual function in that you would manage the DTWS Project Management Office (PMO) and operate as the business operations manager to the global R&D organization.
As the manager of the PMO office you would be responsible for leading a team of worldwide program managers that are tasked with the end-to-end project management of HP Z Desktop Workstations. This includes all facets of the process from bringing initial concepts through the various steps of technical and leadership approval processes, through development phases, and ultimately to completion. You would be responsible for the execution of the project plan by ensuring that program goals, schedules, and costs are being met across the functional teams including marketing, research & development, supply chain, go-to-market, and quality teams. These processes must all be executed under the governance of the Program Life Cycle (PLC) process, with appropriate controls and oversight.
Additionally, you will operate as the business operations manager to the DTWS R&D team which spans US and Asia. This role is focused on the financials and operations of the R&D team. You would be responsible for coordinating with the R&D teams to roll up their projected spend and headcount to then tie out with finance to close on yearly budgets, also providing ongoing updates throughout the year. As the business operations manager, you would be integral to team communications and assist in coordinating meetings and R&D initiatives. You would be responsible for managing the Fort Collins R&D lab operations and the contract workforce that services them.
The desired location for this role is ideally Fort Collins, CO, but open to Houston, TX.

Lead the worldwide DTWS program managers by coaching, supporting, and advocating for them.

Ensure the tracking of program headcount, deliverables, schedules, and costs for multiple ongoing projects; and that they are meeting the program goals, objectives, timelines, and budgets.

Establish strong peer connections to establish and elevate trusted relationships.

Guide program managers in working across adjacent teams to resolve program dependencies, schedules, and costs.

Maintain DTWS program status dashboard and be able to advise management and program leadership.

Work with Solutions PMO for integration of DTWS products into broader solutions.

Work with the broader HP to refine and improve the Program Life Cycle (PLC) process to address evolving business needs.

Education and Experience Required
- 10 Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
- 5 years of program management.
- 3 years people management/leadership experience required.
- PMP certification preferred.
Knowledge and Skills
- Strong communicator with the ability to identify opportunities and influence organizations and individuals to gain support and overcome resistance with data and logic; ability to simplify complex topics for diverse audiences.
- Superior business acumen, technical knowledge, and industry experience encompassing one or more engineering, technology, and product domains.
- Excellent people management and staff development skills, including managing teams across geographies and leading change management.
- Ability to create high-level frameworks and processes to drive strategic and organizational excellence across product teams.

Per the Colorado statute, the estimated range of compensation for this job in Fort Collins, at the time of this posting, is $145,000 - $195,000. This position may be eligible for incentive pay, for openings where this is applicable.
