HP Tuners LLC is a global leader in the automotive aftermarket, developing software and hardware for vehicle calibration. We are growing rapidly and are looking to add a Compliance Specialist to our team.
As a Compliance Specialist, we would prefer you to have a background in paralegal work, your role will be pivotal in ensuring that our company adheres to all relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies. You will utilize your legal experience to interpret and apply complex regulatory requirements, working closely with various departments to implement compliance procedures.
This position reports to the Controller.
This position is 4 days in office in Buffalo Grove and 1 day work from home.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and manage compliance programs, policies, and procedures to ensure adherence to applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
- Tracks and interprets laws or regulations impacting the business and offers suggestions to functional managers seeking to ensure compliance.
- Conducts periodic tests and audits of organizational operations.
- Monitor changes in laws and regulations that may impact the company’s compliance obligations and ensure timely updates to policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address compliance issues and implement best practices.
- Conducts initial reviews of alleged compliance violations, fraud, illegal, improper, or unethical conduct by company representatives or customers. Escalates to executive leadership as needed.
- Review contracts and agreements, make edit suggestions to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. Maintain accurate records and documentation related to compliance activities.
- Prepare reports for senior management and regulatory authorities as required.
- Manage relationships with outside legal counsel.
Requirements
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in legal studies, business administration or related field is preferred.
- 5-7 years of paralegal experience or equivalent work experience in a legal environment is preferred.
- Experience in reviewing and editing contracts.
- Ability to research relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards and apply those to an organization.
- Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
- Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on accuracy and consistency in documentation.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, managing multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
