Essential Functions:
Supervises direct nursing care in the Health Center
Administers direct nursing care when more than routine care is
indicated.
Makes routine rounds to assure proper care and a safe, clean
resident environment.
Assures accuracy and completeness of medical records.
Coordinates, conducts, and documents the MDS, resident care
plans and conference in the absence of the MDS nurse.
Supervises nursing personnel on all shifts. Participates in staffing,
scheduling, counseling, orientation, and evaluation of nursing staff.
Assists with orientation of nursing personnel.
Participates in family/resident counseling.
Responses to emergency calls as necessary.
Functions in the capacity of Dir. of Nursing (DON) in his/her
absence.
Assures effective communication with other shifts and departments
as it relates to resident care.
Some “on call” is required.
Assures timelines of physician visits.
Accompanies physicians when making rounds.
Notifies physician and family of changes in resident’s condition.
Encourages rehabilitative techniques in order to restore resident’
independence.
Assures proper functioning of medical equipment and adequate
medical supplies.
Assists DON in developing and implementing policies and
procedures.
Assists in infection control, safety and pharmacy rounds and
audits.
Attends in-service training and education sessions, as assigned.

Performs specific work duties and responsibilities assigned by
supervisor.
Participates in ongoing staff development activities which fulfill
mandatory requirements
Participates in community functions including family socials and
open houses
Attends required community meetings and completes required
reports in a neat and timely manner

Qualifications/Skills/Educational Requirements:
Current nursing (RN) licensure issued by appropriate state
Current CPR certification
Bachelor’s Degree in health care related field
Current s ECC and/or CORE Training certification as required
Geriatric/rehabilitation experience with a good understanding of
restorative nursing.
Able to effectively supervise a diverse employee work group
Strong leadership skills
One to two years related experience and/or training or equivalent
combination of education, experience and staff management
Experience using Microsoft Office and Outlook software. Basic
typing skills required
Able to communicate effectively with all levels of management,
associates, residents, family members, and outside contacts
Knowledge of current Federal and State laws pertaining to assisted
living and/or memory care communities
Able to make independent decisions
Must possess a passion to work with and around senior citizens
