Job Summary:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Business Development to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in sales within the co-manufacturing and food industry, specifically working with CPG brands. This role requires strategic thinking, excellent communication skills, and a deep understanding of the food production and retail ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute strategic sales plans to achieve sales targets and expand our customer base.
- Build and maintain strong, long-lasting customer relationships with key stakeholders and executive sponsors within the CPG industry.
- Understand industry-specific landscapes and trends, reporting on the forces that shift tactical budgets and strategic direction of accounts.
- Negotiate contracts and close agreements to maximize profits.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, research and development, and production, to ensure timely and successful delivery of our solutions according to customer needs.
- Manage and resolve complex customer issues and complaints.
- Conduct presentations and product demonstrations to highlight product features and benefits.
- Provide periodic sales reports and realistic forecasts to the management team.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of sales experience in the food industry, specifically with a focus on co-manufacturing and working with CPG brands.
- Demonstrable ability to communicate, present, and influence credibly and effectively at all levels of the organization, including executive and C-level.
- Strong business sense and industry expertise.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proven ability to drive the sales process from plan to close.
- Strong analytical and negotiation skills, with a deep understanding of market dynamics and customer requirements.
- Proficient in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with sales performance metrics.
