Description: The HRST lead piping engineer is responsible for evaluation of existing piping systems, pipe supports and structural connections, as well as design of new piping systems. Successful performance in this role requires a strong fundamental knowledge of pertinent design requirements, ability to diagnose root cause of failure and effectively communicate practical solutions to customers and colleagues. The individual will be the primary company expert in piping and pipe support issues while supporting an ongoing effort of training less experienced engineers, knowledge sharing and expanding knowledge of new, developing or changing industry issues.
Essential Functions:
- Act as in-house expert on piping and pipe support design, assessment, and problem solving
- Train and develop knowledge in less experienced engineers. Provide guidance for less experienced piping engineers when needed for project execution
- Execute Covered Piping System (CPS) analysis, inspection, and program development projects
- Write and revise engineering standards, engineering information bulletins, technical FAQs, and other engineering documents related to subject matter expertise
- Develop new analysis methods and tools for internal use and develop new analysis services to offer clients
- Perform engineering analysis projects including failure analysis, risk assessment, and other similar studies
- Perform on-site inspections of power plant HRSGs and boilers and provide customers with practical recommendations which increase reliability and efficiency
- Prepare Proposals to Clients based on their specific needs. Determine price, describe scope of supply, write proposal, follow up with client, be prepared to answer client questions regarding proposal
- Promote HRST products and services when appropriate

Computer Skills:
- Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
- Proficient with industry specific software tools such as CAESAR II and similar.
Qualification Requiremen
- Technical proficiency in pipe stress analysis
- Knowledge of ASME Section I and B31.1
- Competent at reading and interpreting P&ID’s and isometric drawings
- Comfortable with low cycle fatigue, thermal stress, and dynamic load related problem design
- Ability to travel up to 25-30% travel as an annual average. Travel may be as high as 50% during busy seasons
- Excellent communication skills to interface with and understand the needs of our engineers and of our clients
- Good report writing and presentation skills to summarize project results and recommendations
- Must be able to pass a background investigation, Terrorist Watch List search, motor vehicle, employment eligibility (I9) and drug screening test
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to rent a car
Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited College or University is required
- Minimum 4 years power or similar industry engineering experience
- P.E. License strongly preferred
- Project management experience is desirable
Salary : $80,000 - $120,000
