Responsibilities
The Metal Fabricator position is responsible for:
- Working with sheet metal to fabricate products.
- Working with hand tools to form sheet metal to patterns, samples, and customer requirements.
- Making simple setups and operating sheet metal machines and equipment to fabricate and form parts.
- Operating machines such as presses, shears, benders, notchers, buffers etc.
- Melt and apply solder along adjoining edges of work pieces to solder joints, using soldering irons, or gas torches.
- Examine seams for defects and rework defective joints or broken parts.
- Melt and separate brazed or soldered joints to remove and straighten damaged or misaligned components, using soldering equipment.
- Melt and apply solder to fill holes, indentations, or seams of fabricated metal products, using soldering equipment.
- Clean work pieces to remove dirt or excess acid, using chemical solutions, buffers, wire brushes, or grinders.
- Clean equipment parts, such as tips of soldering irons, using chemical solutions, wire brushes or cleaning compounds.
Qualifications
- Previous manufacturing experience.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- An excellent attendance record.
- Previous experience working with metal is a plus, but not required.
