US10622 Job Summary Under the general supervision of the Scene Shop Supervisor, the production artisan constructs and produces sets, environments and fixtures that best support the on-air image, presentation, and sales of individual products, as well as maintain the style of HSN. This includes care and maintenance of all visual scenic assets (props, furniture, fixtures, etc.) associated with HSN’s live and streamed visual and broadcast productions. Job Duties & Responsibilities The production artisan is responsible for developing HSN assets from as early on as concept of the design, through completion and installation of the asset. The production artisan is responsible for making decisions regarding efficient and safe repair of maintenance of assets as well as decisions in fabrication of new elements. Individuals in this position are responsible for the development of relationships with our cross-functional departmental teams, as well as occasionally external vendors. Constructs scenery utilizing a variety of construction techniques and materials, including, but not limited to, working in wood, steel, aluminum, plastics, plexiglass, foams (polyurethane, polystyrene, extruded, etc.), laminates and composites. Paints scenery utilizing a variety of scene painting techniques and materials that are common to the industry. Handles load-ins and strikes of stock scenery for custom proprietary shows and special event broadcasts. This includes but is not limited to, assembly and disassembly of sets and rigging, scenic painting. Development of TIG and MIG welding skills Ensure that the shop is properly supplied by notifying supervisor of needed supplies such as hardware, lumber, etc. Responsible for effective repair & maintenance of scenic assets and minor set maintenance. Including but not limited to daily set walk throughs. Assist with the design and production of specialty scenic assets (props, furniture, and fixtures) Organizes and maintains warehouse of sets and furniture, including repair of sets and furniture. Also inventory control as new sets come in and old are discarded. Use of CNC routing software and hardware for construction purposes. Use of 3D printing software and hardware. Perform other related duties as assigned by the manager. Maintain safe operation of scene shop tools and equipment. Maintain safe operation of all lift equipment and up to date certifications. Identify and correct potential safety hazards. Maintain shop cleanliness and organization through sweeping, emptying dust collector, putting tools back at the end of your shift, removal of trash, etc. Education High School diploma or equivalent, and/or other related field or construction experience. Experience Three years of set construction, technical or design experience in television, theatrical or entertainment lighting preferred.
