Description:

The Project Manager (PM) role is to manage, coordinate, and establish priorities for the complete life cycle of the Epic projects, including the planning, design, programming, testing, and implementation of the Epic clinical and business solutions designed to meet the requirements of the Client.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Plans, organizes, manages, and establishes priorities for the complete life cycle of all Epic projects, including planning, designing, programming, testing, training, and implementing Epic clinical and business solutions.
  • Plans, organizes and manages the Epic project life cycle for technology infrastructure projects, including server, mainframe, storage, database, and new technology lifecycle management.
  • Lead the development of new Epic applications projects, modifications of existing systems or applications, or changes to current methods or techniques.
  • In collaboration with senior management and stakeholders, define the Epic project scope, goals, and deliverables that support business and clinical goals.
  • Design project plans, which identify needs and define major tasks and milestones based on scope, resources, budget, and personnel.
  • Determines Epic project needs and acquires resources required for the project's success.
  • Performs feasibility studies to ensure systems adhere to standards and meet user requirements.
  • Provides means and methods to improve project profitability.
  • Defines strategy and requirements to achieve successful rollout.
  • Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders clearly and concisely.
  • Liaise with project stakeholders on an ongoing basis.
  • Set and continually manage project expectations with team members and other stakeholders.
  • Determine the frequency and content of the project team's status reports, analyze results, and troubleshoot problem areas.
  • Define project success criteria and disseminate them to involved parties throughout the project life cycle.
  • Conduct project post-mortems and create a recommendations report to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements.
  • Develop best practices and tools for project execution and management.
  • Acquisition & Deployment
  • Oversees production of all Epic project deliverables, assesses, and enforces project deadlines, and works within budget restraints.
  • Processes working knowledge of technical resources such as operating systems, programming languages, and hardware.
  • Establishes work plan and multi-disciplinary staffing for each project phase and arranges for personnel recruitment or assignment. Operational Management
  • Manages, plans, and monitors the project's activities to ensure that the project's goals or objectives are accomplished within the prescribed time frame and funding parameters.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Required: Establishes work plan and multi-disciplinary staffing for each project phase and arranges for project personnel recruitment or assignment.
  • Required: Evaluate technical and management proposals for work accomplishment.
  • Required: Identify and solve problems as they come up.
  • Required: Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools.
  • Required: Track project milestones and deliverables.
  • Required: Evaluate alternative problem solutions.
  • Required: Direct and manage project development from beginning to end.
  • Required: Develop full-scale project plans and associated communications documents.
  • Required: Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel.
  • Required: Manages project activities and documents all phases appropriately.
  • Required: Creates, documents, manages risk assessment, and develops risk mitigation plans.
  • Required: Manage project total costs against a given budget.
  • Required: Maintain a detailed project plan and update it to reflect the project status accurately.
  • Required: Ensures all Epic teams follow change management procedures.

Education:

  • Required GED: High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Required Bachelors: University degree or college diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or business-related field.
  • Training and Experience:
    • Preferred: Training 3 -5 years Current Project Management Professional Certification (PMP).
    • Preferred: Experience 5 years 5 - 10 years of direct work experience in a project management capacity, including all aspects of process development and execution.
    • Preferred: Training 5 years. Competent and proficient in project management software, such as Microsoft Project, Microsoft Project Web Application, and Service Now.

Licenses, Certifications, Other:

  • Preferred: Current Project Management Professional Certification (PMP).
  • Required: Must pass a background check from the Client.
  • Required: Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Required: Must be able to complete pre-employment drug screen with a negative result.
  • Required: Completion of the Sphinx assessment is required.
  • Preferred: Epic certification in one or more modules
  • Preferred: Competent and proficient in understanding programming languages.
  • Required: Experience with hospital operations to include EHR solutions (Epic), 3rd party applications, systems, and interfaces
  • Required: Manage, coordinate, and establish priorities for the complete life cycle of Epic projects, including the planning, design, programming, testing, training, and implementation of business and clinical solutions.
