What are the responsibilities and job description for the Estimator position at Hubble Homes?
JOB SUMMARY
The estimator supports the Estimating department by preparing, maintaining, and reporting residential construction purchase orders, budgeting, and trade A/R reconciliation information using computer software. This role will perform a large volume of data entry.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Produce accurate budgets to ensure purchase orders accurately reflect what products and options have been selected for each house (in FAST system).
- Maintain database to ensure accurate parts and assemblies of material and labor requirements.
- Review showroom menu, plans and specifications, ACC submittals, purchase orders, sales contracts and addendums to ensure all operational paperwork is correct.
- Performs and maintains accurate material review for all plans, elevations and options.
- Maintains accurate product and service database for budgets and purchase orders.
- Monitors and ensures accuracy of material submitted by vendors.
- Keep community specific requirements, CC&R's, and other lot specific costs updated in the software system.
- Account reconciliations
- Ability to determine quantity take off of material
- Establish unit pricing
- Establish budgets
LIMITS OF AUTHORITY
Has the authority to create purchase orders and variance purchase orders.
RELATIONSHIP TO OTHERS
Reports directly to the Purchasing Manager. Works regularly with Estimating Manager, Estimators, Trade Partner Liaison, Showroom Manager, Design, and Scheduling.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- College education or applicable work experience in the construction industry is required.
- Experience in estimating preferred, but not required.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
- Must possess strong problem solving, analysis & communication skills, as well as an attention to detail.
- Must have excellent computer and spreadsheet skills.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw conclusions.
- Ability to multi-task and work under pressure and tight deadlines.
- Ability to gain a broad-based understanding of the organization, business plans and visions of the company along with priorities of the President is imperative.
- Possess excellent written and oral communication skills. Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to work closely and confidently with a wide variety of individuals.
- Typing 35 WPM
- 10 Key 4,000 KPH
- CAD/Blue Beam Software knowledge would be beneficial.
