Job Overview
The Quality Inspector is responsible for inspecting incoming raw materials, outgoing finished good and performing first piece inspection on items that are in production.
The Quality inspector will perform critical dimensional inspections that cover all production departments and may assist other departments in measuring, inspecting or identifying parts.
This role will require effective non-conformance reporting, providing the appropriate level of details to allow the business to make decisions on use.
This role will assist in maintianing the calibration of special tools and equipment.
A Day In The Life
Under moderate supervision, performs inspections of raw materials, in-process products, and / or finished products to ensure defined quality standards for durability and function are met.
Examine, measure, and test products and materials for defects or deviations from manufacturer or industry specifications.
Use appropriate gauges and equipment to perform routine and non-routine inspections, such as calipers, rulers, gauges, micrometers, and comparators.
Know generally company standards, catalogues, and applications for performance and application to inspection.
Performs in process and sampling inspection of parts and assemblies produced from all forms of processing operations (machining, assembly, plating, etc ) Use and apply statistical sampling plans as directed.
Uses various types of inspection equipment to obtain measurements created by the assembly of two or more components. Includes calipers, micrometers, fixed gauges, comparators, etc.
measuring angular differences and all other dimensional checkouts.
Make dimensional inspection decisions that decide relative values, such as degree to which items are off standard , such as how much, how deep, how long, frequency, etc
Make visual inspections checking for burrs, finish, color, deformities, flash, part damage, etc
Perform tasks for special projects as directed by the Lead Inspector, Quality Technician or Quality Manager. This could include machine capability studies, targeted training, in-process inspections, or operations support activities.

Education and / or Experience :
High School Diploma required & One year certificate from college or technical school; or one to three years related experience and / or training;
or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills :
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Mathematical / Reasoning Ability
General shop floor math a must. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES :
Must be able to read and understand blueprints, diagrams, and drawings.
This position will require the use of electronic communication apps / software and basic computer skills. This position is based in a highly team-oriented atmosphere.
