As a team member, you will support the mission, vision, and values of Hudson Hospital and Hudson Hospital Gift Shop. This position is responsible for maintaining the gift shop appearance and cleanliness, accurately handling cash and the cash register system, opening and closing the gift shop and providing excellent customer service to the gift shop customers.
Responsible for presence and appearance of the gift shop to project a clean, organized and calm environment.
Responsible for professional and accurate sales transactions.
Responsible for daily balance of cash register, reconciliation and follow through for discrepancies.
Stocking of product, keeping displays clean, fresh, and filled with adequate merchandise. Includes stock room, packing, unpacking and pricing.
Monitor inventory levels and communicate with leader for re-ordering.
Taking and fulfilling phone or online ordering, where applicable.
Updating online merchandise or photos, if applicable.
Interaction with customers to understand requests.
Interaction with vendors to understand and explain products offered.
Preserve customer confidentiality, including protected health information (PHI) and financial/payment information.
Adhere to department procedures and policies.
Train others, including volunteers and clerks, as needed
Other duties as assigned.
Specific Knowledge, Skills, and Capabilities:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, includes listening, verbal and professional body language to assist guests, visitors and customers as well as provide a high quality customer experience.
Ability to operate computerized point of sale cash register, including troubleshooting credit card reader and scanner.
Ability to accurately handle cash, including collecting, counting, and balancing cash in register as compared to sales reports.
Ability to read, understand, and reconcile data.
Excellent computer and math skills.
Ability to work independently in the absence of direct supervision.
Creatively assemble or suggest items for gifts/gift baskets.
Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED
One year of customer service and 6 months retail experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Post secondary school
