Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree and/or at least 5 years of related supervisory/management experience, preferably in a law firm.
  • Knowledge of financial information, facilities, and legal industry trends as well as excellent consulting and project management skills.
  • Ability to communicate and work with all levels of personnel; strong conflict management and coaching skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to multi-task and prioritize.
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure.
  • Excellent technical skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc).

Position Summary:
In this role, you will partner with the office leadership to oversee the daily office operations and recruiting. In addition, you will foster positive relationships with attorneys and staff, while supervising, recruiting, and hiring support staff, as well as assisting with attorney recruiting, financial management, and office operations.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assess office needs and concerns through regular meetings with Firmwide Manager and local office leadership, lawyers, and staff.
  • Manage support services, including determining appropriate staffing levels, obtaining necessary approvals, partnering with Human Resources to recruit for open positions, and updating job descriptions as needed.
  • Provide orientation and training to all staff with regard to firm policies and office procedures and coordinate training for job-specific requirements.
  • Conduct employee evaluations, administer merit increases, and counsel staff employees who are not meeting the firm’s standards.
  • Coordinate work allocation within the office and the work load, including overtime, of staff employees.
  • Consult with employees to assist in resolving problems, and, where appropriate, act as spokesperson in dealing with attorneys.
  • Act as primary contact between Washington D.C. office and Firmwide Administration by answering questions and facilitating problem solving.
  • Support and advance the Firm’s dedication to diversity and inclusion.
  • Develop programs for maintenance and improvement of office morale.
  • Assist with budget planning and monitoring office expenses.
  • Assist with on-campus recruiting and act as contact for law school placement offices.
  • Work directly with the Firmwide Human Resources, IT, Recruitment, Facilities, and Marketing Departments.
  • Work with Washington D.C. Office Heads and to schedule interviews, coordinate travel, and facilitate evaluations for all lateral associates and summer associates.
  • Conduct summer associate orientation and assist with organizing social activities.
  • Coordinate, assist, and participate in summer associate evaluation process.
  • Assist the Marketing Team with event management, including seminars, receptions, and special events.
  • Assist with office sponsorships, including obtaining appropriate approval, submitting paperwork, and monitoring office marketing budget.
