Project Coordinator

HUGS, Inc., (Human Understanding & Growth Services), a community based non-profit agency providing substance use prevention and youth development services in Suffolk County, NY, and F.I.S.T. (Families in Support of Treatment) has a full-time opening for a Program Coordinator for the Long Island Regional Addiction Resource Center. We are seeking an individual that shares our vision of providing resource information to individuals, families and community members to access the prevention, treatment and recovery services throughout Long Island.

Summary Statement

• Develop and maintain a Long Island Resource Collaborative consisting of multi-sector defined partners including youth that meets quarterly.
• Identify, develop, and maintain bi-county Substance Use Disorder resource directories.
• Formulate ongoing community assessment (with input from community partners) for the purpose of identifying both barriers and assets to prevention, treatment and recovery services.
• Coordinate twelve community events that raise awareness and reduce the stigma of substance use disorder.

Responsibilities:

Develop, maintain, and disseminate community identified SUD related resource directories/listings for Nassau and Suffolk regions covering prevention, treatment and recovery.

Organize and convene regional community meetings and forums, continuing to gather both resources and trend data within Long Island region. Participate in bi-annual community focus groups with NYS OASAS, sharing effective media awareness strategies.

Develop a media plan to disseminate gathered resources in conjunction with the Director and Communications staff, sharing with NYS OASAS media strategies.

Ensure that activities and goals highlight the importance of inclusion and the rich diversity of the communities on Long Island. Facilitate the connection between community members, youth and adults and the growing/evolving recovery community resources and organizations.

Participate in regionally identified specific task forces, networks and coalitions as identified by the Director.

Prepare and actively participate in meetings, trainings and supervision

Attend continuing education workshops and seminars to further enhance skills

Education:

• Bachelor’s Degree preferred (human services, health education, counseling, or related fields) or

equivalent combination of education and experience.

• CPP (NYS Credentialed Prevention Professional) or CASAC preferred

Relevant Experience:

• The applicant will have at least 2 years in community/program development
• Experience in digital media and marketing a plus

Physical Requirements:

• The applicant must be able to drive and travel. Current valid NYS driver’s license. Personal transportation required to accomplish core job functions.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $52,000.00 per year
