We look for colleagues who Care, Dare and Deliver. POSITION SUMMARY: Weekly preparation of hourly time and attendance data for 3rd party payroll processing. Ensure pay practices comply with both Union contract and Company policy. Maintain attendance and time card records for hourly employees. Execute Accounting tasks as needed to bridge the payroll data to the general ledger for operational results reporting. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Processes payroll records for all hourly employees, including W-4 information. Maintains calendar indicating scheduled pay increases. Process deductions related to employee benefits. Educate employees about direct deposit and paperless options. Support Managers/Supervisors by reviewing weekly approved time to ensure compliance with union contract. Works closely with supervisors to resolve discrepancies in terms of unclear arithmetic differences, authorized overtime, shift differentials, or reasons for absences, either paid or unpaid. Enters hours and special pay or deductions on weekly payroll worksheets. Totals and balances worksheets against departmental information submitted by supervisors. Makes any required changes to employee information such as change of address, withholding, or regular deductions. Support corporate and hourly employees for the processing of child support deductions, garnishments and requests for checks to appropriate recipients of these funds. Arranges for special checks, such as advance vacation pay and other awards. Prepares manual payroll pay cards as required in case of payroll errors or terminations. Captures and recoups deductions as needed when an employee experiences a leave of absences. Researches and processes grievances as needed Tracks vacation time earned, calculates hourly rates used for vacation payments; and maintains holiday schedule and tracks banked activity. ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Posts journal entries, reconciles balance sheet accounts, analyzes payroll data, and fulfills audit requests in support of the financial statements. Supports the Human Resource and Senior Management teams as needed. QUALIFICATIONS: High school graduate or equivalent. College Degree is preferred. Two years of experience in an accounting department, with at least six months of training in payroll procedures. Experience in a large Industrial Manufacturing setting is preferred. Ability to perform detailed work and ensure accuracy by self-check reviews. Hourly payroll processing is done on Monday, regardless of holiday schedule, and often takes twelve hours to complete. Must be willing to work holidays (and week-ends if needed); as well as, be flexible with schedule to accommodate the Monday hours required to meet the weekly processing deadline.
