We are seeking a Staff Ecologist II to join our Great Lakes Area team with home office locations throughout Ohio.
This is a great opportunity to join an experienced, respected ecological consulting team in the Great Lakes Area. The successful candidate will utilize technical and task management skills on a variety of diverse, sometimes complex, projects requiring multi-disciplinary collaboration, independent review, and problem-solving.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Independently lead surface water delineations and wildlife habitat assessments, including field investigations and follow-up reporting
- Prepare technical reports to document project findings, conclusions, and recommendations
- Assist Project Managers by defining level of effort for assigned tasks, tracking work progress and providing clear work assignments to project personnel assisting with projects
- Communicate effectively with Project Managers, team members, clients and other project stakeholders
- Interface with government and regulatory agencies (USACE, Ohio EPA, etc.).
- Serve as a technical resource for the company by evaluating alternative strategies for ecological projects
- Prepare maps and illustrations for interpreting and presenting data.
- Collect and interpret data through research, file reviews, field observations, and measurements
- Create daily Health and Safety Plans to maintain personal and team safety in the field
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in ecology, environmental science, or a related field from an accredited institution
- 3 to 7 years of experience leading ecological fieldwork
- Combination of outdoor (60%) and office (40%) work environment. When in an outdoor environment, the employee is subject to significant walking distances in uneven terrain, varying temperatures, weather conditions, wildlife, and noise
- Experience with oil & gas, renewable energy, land development, and ecological restoration projects desired
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
- Must be a U.S. citizen, or green card holder
- Must possess a valid driver's license
