Human Powered Health, a human performance company, provides accessibility to advanced tools and analytics that help all athletes assess and understand their unique physiology to maximize their human potential. The Head Performance Physiologist is a hungry, entrepreneurial physiologist responsible for leading, operating, and developing the Human Powered Health Performance Lab in their market, in addition to managing accompanying Performance Physiologists within the market. Further, the Head Performance Physiologists has expert knowledge within the context of applied exercise physiology and biomechanics to lead fitness testing and interpret data to develop individualized programs designed to help athletes achieve their goals. This role is supported by leadership and the growth and marketing teams.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily operations and grow the Performance Lab.
- Drive revenue and manage costs for the market, owning the market profits and loss statement.
- Supervise, manage, and motivate a team of physiologists.
- Perform physiological assessments with clients. This includes exercise program design, fitness testing, and data interpretation in the areas of body composition, cardiorespiratory fitness, functional strength and power, bilateral strength, and any other fitness related testing.
- Ensuring appropriate staff are competent in completing safe and effective physiological assessments.
- Develop, maintain, and leverage network of specialists in the areas of coaching, sports psychology, nutrition, and physical therapy to refer clients based on physiological assessments and programs.
- Conduct consultations for clients, including needs analysis and goal setting, to recommend appropriate fitness programming and complementary wellness services.
- Educate athletes/clients on clinically proven health and fitness information, available fitness and engagement programming, and referral services.
- Educate staff on the products we are selling, to ensure staff can relay basic physiological benefits of the products to clients.
- Maintain positive customer/client experience by providing the highest quality of service.
- Master s or PhD in Exercise Physiology, Biomechanics, Kinesiology, or closely related field.
- Current knowledge and industry standards of excellence in exercise testing (assessments), exercise prescription (program design), and body composition.
- Knowledge and ability to operate various fitness tools and equipment such as resistance bands, strength equipment, cardio machines, kettlebells, free weights, foam rollers etc.
- Capable of high-level organization, data analysis and results interpretation/application.
- Ability to communicate results to clients and how they can apply to their training and performance.
- Enthusiastic, pleasant, approachable, and outgoing demeanor with excellent customer service and positive interpersonal skills.
- Practical experience with a current working knowledge of exercise physiology and biomechanics testing such as cardiopulmonary exercise testing (VO2max, Lactate Threshold, etc.), DXA scans, force plates, gait analysis, and Wingate testing (2-3 years of experience preferred).
- Knowledge about the industry with the customer skills to network, engage, and interact with all clients, guests, and participants.
- Communicate professionally using appropriate vocabulary and grammar to obtain and relay information to and from clients/guests.
- Competent with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook).
Must have current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications within the first four weeks of hire date.
Licensure as required by state in which services are provided (ex. Limited Scope X-ray Operator for DXA). Certifications/licenses in relevant field; equivalent training will be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience managing a budget.
- Leadership and/or managerial experience.
- DXA certified.
- Public speaking, technical writing, and lecture development skills.
- Certifications from National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), or equivalent.
