Research Analyst I (remote)

Human Services Research Institute (HSRI), a mission-driven health research organization, is seeking a Research Assistant to join our Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) team and work directly with the Systems Redesign Collective who consults with states to do research, analysis, community outreach, and provide recommendations for improvements.

The Systems Redesign Collective of the Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) team at HSRI works with government agencies and other partners to identify sustainable ways to improve services and advance the quality of life for individuals with IDD and their families. Our current projects focus primarily on Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) waiver programs implemented by states. The methods we employ range from advanced quantitative data analysis to qualitative, and apply community-based participatory research and mixed methods approaches. What We’re Looking For

We are seeking a full-time Research Analyst I who enjoys working as part of a team. The work will primarily entail simple and complex data analysis, as well as data coding, cleaning, and entry tasks. It will also involve assisting in the creation of research and analysis plans, data management and quality assurance. In addition, the work will include literature searches and assisting with end products that convey our findings—creating tables, graphs, or other data visualizations; proofreading and conducting other editorial tasks; and assisting with the preparation of presentation materials, reports, and briefs. The ideal candidate is someone who communicates well both in person and in writing; manages work across projects with multiple timelines; develops and maintains positive relationships with clients, consultants, collaborators, co-workers, and funders; and listens and contributes to a sharing of diverse perspectives.  

Responsibilities 

•    Manage complex data and databases in compliance with HIPAA regulations and may develop data processing documentation, including codebooks, data dictionaries, and/or guidance documents

•    Conduct data analysis (quantitative and/or qualitative) and contribute to the interpretation of analytic findings for reports and presentations

•    Plan and develop data collection protocols and instruments, and conduct data collection activities such as site visits, interviews, and focus groups, possibly in a virtual setting

•    Contribute to the development and writing of reports, articles, conference abstracts, presentations, policy briefs, and/or other dissemination products

•    Execute project management functions of varying complexity. This may include some timeline and/or budget oversight, and/or coordination of project staff and sub-contractors. 

•    Implement standard quality control procedures to ensure quality of products 

•    Develop resources and training materials to assist clients, and provide technical assistance coordinating the logistics and technical aspects of trainings

•    Participate in scheduling and conducting in-depth community member interviews and focus groups.

•    Participate in team development activities and grant/proposal writing 

Minimum Qualifications 

•    Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 4 to 6 years’ experience in quantitative research or relevant experience within an applied social science field (e.g., public policy, social work, psychology)

•    Experience with Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

•    Intermediate to advanced skills with analysis software packages such as SPSS, R, SAS, SQL, Excel, Tableau, NVivo

•    Intermediate to advanced statistical and/or qualitative analysis techniques and database management

•    Advanced organizational skills and experience managing projects or parts of projects with the ability to maintain attention to detail and prioritize workload 

•    Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to efficiently synthesize and convey information to a variety of audiences 

•    Cooperative and collaborative teamwork skills

•    Ability to work on multiple tasks with possibly overlapping timelines    

•    Ability to work with considerable independence

Desired Qualifications

•    Experience using a variety of other software applications that could include marketing software, data visualization applications, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), business intelligence tools, and communication tools, and/or the ability to quickly learn new software

Hours

Full-time – 40 hours 

This position allows flexibility in core hours.

Location  

This is a remote position with an option to work from our Cambridge, MA, office, which is accessible by public transportation. HSRI does not permit remote work arrangements based in California, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, and outside the United States. Must have unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. Occasional travel (up to 5 trips per year) may be requested, but is not a requirement of this position.

Salary Range 

$58,400-$73,650

Pay is commensurate with skills and experience.
