Research Consulting Lead - Healthcare Delivery

Humana Healthcare Research (HHR) needs your resesarch study design and analytical skills to help us tell a compelling story about healthcare today. Through the design and implementation of various types of research studies and the strategic interpretation of data, we provide Humana and our external research partners with meaningful real-life insights about healthcare utilization and costs, patterns of medication use, health outcomes, disease burden and beyond. Responsibilities

Location: Remote

HHR is seeking a Research Consulting Lead to be part of a healthcare payment, policy, and care delivery research team. The Research Consulting Lead will oversee project teams comprised of individuals tasked with research consulting and analytic roles in the design, implementation, analysis and interpretation of research studies in the area of healthcare policy. Directly serve in the research consulting (described below) or analytic role on research studies. Work closely with the Director of Research Consulting or Research Consulting Principal to support development of a care delivery research pipeline that explores the role of managed care in the healthcare industry. Participate in publication strategy and internal and external dissemination tasks.

The main day-to-day responsibilities of the Research Consulting Lead when overseeing projects include:

• Overseeing the development of study protocols for business owners/research partners/clients, ensuring that studies are designed in a feasible, rigorous, and cost effective manner.

• Overseeing, from inception to completion, projects that involve retrospective data analysis, primary data collection, mixed methods, or prospective observational or interventional healthcare outcomes.

• Providing expert recommendations for the design and execution of research studies, ensuring a scientifically sound approach that is in line with HHR business objectives and value to Humana.

• Working collaboratively with Director of Research Consulting or Research Consulting Principal in business development by delivering advanced capability presentations to potential partners/clients, and generating new collaborative research opportunities for HHR.

• Assisting the Director of Research Consulting or Research Consulting Principal on strategic planning and infrastructure development activities.

The main day-to-day responsibilities of the Research Consulting Lead when serving the role of research consulting include:

• Identifying and understanding business and clinical issues to map these issues into quantitative questions.

• Designing scientifically valid studies to answer relevant questions.

• Exploring relevant data sources to understand what metrics can be produced.

• Coordinating the integration of data to determine clinical and economic trends and impact.

• Working with complex health care databases to produce statistical output and interpret results.

• Reporting results for studies through presentations, abstracts and publications.

• Communicating insights and analytical findings to a broad range of audiences.

• Mentoring other research professionals in extensive projects or programs.

Required Qualifications

• Master’s degree in the area of healthcare payment, policy, or care delivery research or economics (e.g., health policy, public health, epidemiology, outcomes research, health services research)

• 7 years of healthcare research with a focus on healthcare delivery

• 5 years of research project leadership experience

• Experience designing research studies in the fields of payment reform and delivery system transformation

• Experience leading teams working on healthcare research projects (HEOR, primary research, claims data research, etc.)

• Strong problem solving skills, flexibility and the ability to work effectively on an inter-disciplinary team

• Strong verbal and written communication

Preferred Qualifications

• PhD degree in health policy, health services research, public health, pharmacoeconomics, epidemiology or equivalent

• Prior work experience in primary research, prospective research, health services research or HEOR within a managed care or healthcare research organization

• Experience publishing high-impact studies in top-tier academic journals and presenting at national conferences
