Position Overview:
The Veterinary Technician Assistant assists the technicians, doctors, and receptionists in all duties of the clinic. The responsibilities vary with the current needs of the clinic staff and the individual abilities demonstrated by the employee.

Responsibilities:
Assist doctors with client appointments.
Gather TPR, history, and document accurately all services needed.
Create patient exam forms and input subjective information.
Invoice treatments and medications.
Assist with appointments for nail trims, vaccine boosters, and suture removal.
Assist technicians with in-hospital and surgical patients.
Set up laboratory specimens and document results.
Discuss flea and heartworm preventative with clients.
Stock exam rooms and treatment areas.
Help maintain accurate inventory of all supplies.
Assist reception as needed with phone calls, scheduling, and appointments.
Clean and disinfect animal housing areas, treatment area, and exam rooms.
Operate washer and dryer to clean kennel bedding and hospital laundry.
Sterilize surgical equipment.
Restrain animals as needed.
Perform lab-work as needed.
Maintain equipment as needed.
Provide professional, informative interaction with clients.
Provide a Fear Free environment for the patients before, during and after their visit.
Help to maintain cleanliness of entire clinic.
Comply with all policies as described in the Humane Society of Sarasota County handbook.
Other duties may be assigned, based on the company?s needs.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

High school graduate required.
CVA preferred.
Prior veterinary technician assistant experience prefered.
Veterinary medical knowledge required.

The ideal candidate will possess the following:
Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
Ability to identify signs of animal illness, diseases, and injuries.
Ability to identify animal breeds, age, and sex.
Able to work with Microsoft office products, Outlook, and ability to learn clinic software products.
Ability to multitask.
Proficiency with using and maintaining veterinary medical equipment common in an animal clinic.
Ability and desire to promote the mission and goals of the Humane Society of Sarasota County as outlined in the employee handbook.

Work Schedule
Full-Time, 40 hours per week. Monday through Friday. The position may require additional hours if necessary for special events or emergencies.

Physical Requirements
Must be able to safely lift 50 pounds.
This position is labor-intensive; moderate physical exertion is required; including bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching above/below the waist, pushing/pulling movements, lifting, walking, sitting, and standing and in conditions involving temperature fluctuations.
Must work with cleaning solvents.
Must have reliable transportation.
Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $16.00 - $19.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
