Checkr is looking for a UX Research Manager to grow and strengthen our design research practice. You’ll own the vision for how UX research supports the business and product life cycle, guiding a team through both generative and evaluative research and big-picture strategy for the product. From managing a team of 3 researchers at first and hiring more through the year, you’ll shape how research can help demystify the background check process and encourage fair hiring. What you’ll do:
- Evolve the UX research function at Checkr as part of the Product Design team
- Manage, mentor, and build career pathways for a team of UX researchers
- Recruit and hire new members to the team
- Identify blockers to our efficiency as a team (process, tooling, etc) and propose and implement solutions that enable the entire team to work more effectively
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize research opportunities, with job seekers and our customers (enterprise and SMB), to improve our product offerings
- Build repeatable and scalable UX measurement processes
- Evangelize UX research throughout the company. Build and influence meaningful cross-functional relationships to ensure impact and value from research across the organization
- Partner with the Data team to build out more links between qualitative and quantitative research
- Develop a deep understanding of our products, the background check industry, and fair chance hiring
Who you are:
- Excited about improving employment opportunities for people with criminal histories
- Thrive in an fast-paced environment with a lot of autonomy and flexibility to be creative
- Expert researcher with experience working on a complex product and conducting research (primarily qualitative) that influenced products with measurable outcomes
- Bonus points for experience with enterprise SaaS and B2B products
- 8 years’ UX research experience, 2 years managing UX researchers
- Experience building and leading a team of researchers, using multiple methodologies such as contextual inquiry and interviewing, usability testing, surveys, workshop facilitation, and usage data analysis
- Experience implementing policies, workflows, and strategies that help research teams do their best work
- A supportive and inspiring leader for your team who helps develop their careers
- A passionate champion for the user who incorporates business considerations into your research
- Able to synthesize insights across users to inform overall strategy
- Knowledge of accessibility and internationalization standards
- Have a strong portfolio that demonstrates your UX expertise
The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with Colorado law, the base salary for this role if filled within Colorado is $162,563-$191,250.
