Mission:

Humble Design changes lives and communities by furnishing the home of individuals, families, and veterans emerging from homelessness.

Overview:

Founded in 2009, Humble Design changes lives and communities by furnishing the homes of individuals, families, and veterans emerging from homelessness. Currently, many that secure permanent housing arrive to an empty space with their belongings in a bag and an air mattress for the hard floor. As a result, many return to homelessness within a few years. Humble Design stops the continuum of homelessness by furnishing homes with donated furniture and personalized design.

We currently operate in Detroit, Chicago, Cleveland, San Diego, and Seattle.

The Team:

We, the Chicago team and national Humble Design community, are connectors and doers on a mission to help end the revolving door of homelessness. We move with swift, bold action, driven by our humble mission. We believe in collaboration, community, compassion, and above all, serving our clients with dignity and respect.

The Role:

The Operations Manager will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of Humble Design Chicago and ensuring that the staff, volunteers, and resources are in place where needed to service 3-4 clients per week. This person needs to be flexible and willing to jump in where needed, skilled at time management & prioritization, and able to communicate effectively with the team & volunteers. Overall duties include management of staff, organization schedules & needs, supplies & inventory, partner agency relationships, client scheduling, data tracking, and in-kind donations.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Management of Staff and Coordination of Design & Warehouse/Moving Teams

  • Ensure resources in place to deliver on our mission: staff, volunteers, clients, inventory, transportation, etc.
  • Manage processes and collaboration of staff, ensuring consistent communication and alignment of needs & goals
  • Schedule and maintain documentation for client site visits & deco days, furniture pick-ups, warehouse donations and corporate pick-ups

Key Relationship Management

  • Support Executive Director in managing & stewarding key donor relationships
  • Coordinate, manage and grow community of volunteers
  • Manage requests and scheduling of in-kind donations from community and corporate partners
  • Manage relationships and client referral process with partnering agencies

Impact / Data Management

  • Manage all documentation related to clients
  • Able to demonstrate proficiency with software tools such as: Google Drive, Salesforce - CRM platform, Mailchimp, Cervis – volunteer registration & management system

  • Preferred experience in operations, warehouse,team management, retail management or similar

FLSA: Full-time/Exempt

Reports to: Executive Director

Location: In person / on-site. Humble Design Warehouse - Chicago

Salary: Range $50K - $52K, depending on experience
