ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF ASSISTED HOUSING
Huntsville Housing Authority is seeking a qualified person for the position of Assistant Director of Assisted Housing. Under the supervision of the Director of Assisted Housing, the successful candidate will plan, organize, and supervise the HCV Program day-to-day operations and staff; administer the technical functions of the HCV Program; assist the Director of Assisted Housing in the development of policies and procedures for the HCV Programs, managing the administrative and operational aspects of the department while ensuring the delivery of excellent customer service. The Assistant Director of Assisted Housing will supervise the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Inspections Coordinator, FSS Coordinators, and HCV Specialists. Currently, the staff consists of seven professionals and manages a $12 million HCV Program of approximately 2,000 vouchers, with the expectations of growing the program in the near future. The desired candidate will have the skills and knowledge to perform all HCV Program tasks (e.g., intake, lease-up, annual recertifications, interim income adjustments, etc.).
Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business Administration/ Management, Social Work, or related field from a school accredited by a regional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education; or a high school diploma or G.E.D. certificate issued by the appropriate state agency, plus a minimum of six (6) years of Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program and Housing Quality Standards (HQS) experience.
The selected individual must have strong interpersonal, organizational, computer, and communication skills, have the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks as required, and able to work with a diverse population of individuals. Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Emphasys software, with the ability to learn other software programs. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and have a good driving record.
