Job Summary

The primary purpose of the Registered Nurse is to provide nursing services to Agency clients in response to identified needs and in collaboration with the RN Case Manager and other clinical field staff to ensure the highest quality of care is maintained at all times, in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern our Agency, and as may be directed by the RN Clinical Branch Manager. Other duties include: Provides services and treatment and administers medications to clients as indicated in the plan of care, and in accordance to an nurse’s scope of practice, under the supervision of the RN Case Manager, observes signs and symptoms and reports to the physician and/or other appropriate health professionals as often as needed or upon changes in the client’s condition. Teaches, supervises, and counsels the patient and family regarding home nursing procedures and self care techniques as appropriate to the patient’s condition. Attends patient care conferences upon request of the Case Manager or Clinical Manager, and accurately completes all documentation according to department standards.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public.
  • Function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with older adults, personnel, and support organizations
  • Knowledge of the appropriate skills for communicating with individuals of all ages, especially the geriatric population

 

Required Qualifications 

  • Must possess a degree in nursing
  • Must possess an unencumbered nursing license in the State of Michigan
  • Must have a minimum of 1 year of nursing experience
