Operations Analyst- EMS-Full Time

Responsible for interpreting data, analyzing results, providing ongoing reports and completing the billing and collection processes for Reno County EMS. Individual locates and defines new processes for improvement opportunities to enhance performance outcomes, answers inquiries from other departments, agencies and patients and explains all actions pertaining to the billing/coding/collection process.
Individual actively participates in outstanding customer service, takes ownership of billing processes from start to finish and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Verify completion of run reports daily and from the previous weekend
  • Complete daily review of electronic patient care reports (ePCR) for completeness and accuracy of documentation
  • Use internal and external systems to verify patient demographics, personal insurance information and completion of all required signatures.
Accurately apply EMS specific billing codes to electronic patient care reports. Enter necessary patient demographics and run information into billing programs to generate charges to be completed by hospital billing departments
  • Follow up with crews to resolve issues in ePCRs, documentation practices and provide training/feedback as needed to maintain compliance with current laws, regulations and policies
  • Manage electronic storage of patient care reports and archived paper patient care reports and billing/insurance forms
  • Replies to medical records requests in a timely manner, issuing to approved persons only, in compliance with current laws, regulations and policies
  • Acquire data on overdoses in Reno county from ePCRs and enter into the national ODMAP database
  • Utilize scheduling software to obtain data on paid EMS standbys each month, generate standby billing documentation and send to hospital accounting department for processing
  • Collect receipts for fuel from crews/units and mail to appropriate departments
  • Creates and maintains billing and accounting policies and procedures along with and under the direction of the Chief of EMS.
  • Interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques and provide ongoing reports for both the operational and clinical functions of the EMS department.
  • Manages workload in an ethical manner and within the intent of federal, state and local laws and in alignment with the mission and values of Reno County EMS
  • Performs other duties as assigned

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
  • EMS or healthcare background helpful but not required

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
  • High School Graduate/GED
  • One year of experience or education in medical administration, billing or related field
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Experience or education in Healthcare billing or insurance
  • Proficiency in KEMSIS Documentation
