What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Assistant position at Hutzel Women's Health Specialists?
Busy, fast paced OB/Gyn office is looking for full time Certified Medical Assistants to join our team.
Some of the duties of the Medical Assistant include:
- Verifying patient information by interviewing patient; recording medical history; confirming purpose of visit.
- Preparing patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests; taking blood pressure, weight, and temperature; reporting patient history summary.
- Assisting and chaperoning physicians and practitioners with medical examinations of female patients: including annual exams, obstetrical exams, and colposcopies.
- Securing patient information and maintaining patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records; keeping patient information confidential.
- Maintaining a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
- Keeping exam rooms clean, organized, and stocked with supplies.
- Assuring equipment in operational by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; cleaning; and sterilizing.
- Updating job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications.
- Serving and protecting the practice by adhering to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements.
- Enhancing the practice's reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
One year of previous experience working in an Ob/Gyn office preferred. Certified Medical Assistant preferred, but not required.
The ability to speak Arabic or Bengali is preferred, but not required.
This practice has three offices in Metro Detroit. As such, travel to any one of the three offices is possible, so we ask all candidates to have reliable transportation.
The ideal candidate must be a self starter who is able to multi-task, have the ability to prioritize and handle high patient volume, and maintain patient confidentiality. The ability to have a high attention to detail and handle all situations in a professional manner is a must. We are looking for a team player who is punctual and dependable as the patient care depends on you.
