HX5 is currently seeking a Reliability Engineer to join our team at Eglin AFB, Florida to support the Air Dominance Division of the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center.

The Air Dominance Division (AFLMC/EBA) develops air dominance capabilities that provide unstoppable air superiority. The AFLMC/EB develops, produces, and sustains Counter-Air, Counter-Air Defense, and Aerial Targets for our nation's warfighters and foreign military customers. AFLMC/EBA also develops, produces, and sustains advanced, high-impact, highly classified armament technologies and capabilities to meet joint Air Force, Navy, and Army warfighter requirements. These products include the Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missile (AMRAAM), the High-speed Anti-Radiation Missile (HARM) Targeting System (HTS), Air Intercept Missile (AIM)-9X, Full-Scale Aerial Target (FSAT), Air Force Subscale Aerial Target (AFSAT), and the Target Control System (TCS).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide advice and guidance on Reliability and Maintainability (R&M) design, test, verification, and validation activities throughout the acquisition life cycle including:
    • Reliability, Availability, and Maintainability (RAM) requirements development.
    • RAM program planning
    • Developing reliability growth models to ensure designs meet system requirements (including both hardware and software reliability).
  • Use design-for-reliability techniques to include:
    • Reliability block diagrams
    • Allocations and predictions
    • Circuit analyses
    • Fault tree analysis
    • Cost trade-off analysis.
    • Change point analysis.
    • Accelerated and highly accelerated stress testing.
    • Highly accelerated life testing. environmental stress screening;
    • Physics of failure analysis, dormancy/storage analysis
    • Warranty data analysis.
    • Failure Modes Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA).
    • Failure Reporting and Corrective Action System (FRACAS) process.
    • Growth software tools.
  • Generate reliability analysis reports using maintenance and sustainment engineering principles, risk assessment and mitigation strategies, and statistical methods related to test design and analysis.

Additional Duties:

  • Conduct reviews on armament programs portfolio to evaluate and/or recommend alternative plans, improve systems engineering programs/processes, manage/sustain program technical baseline, and design/perform system level tests to assure that subsystems and system performance is achieved.
  • Prepare management reports and conduct technical presentations for planning, implementation, and corrective actions using the application of engineering principles.
  • Perform validation of systems, including the development of criteria and procedures.
  • Analyze and/or evaluate results of major engineering weapon systems.
  • Provide system/program engineering, technical support and technical training to support programs/initiatives in compliance with Air Force Systems Engineering Assessment Model (AF SEAM) processes.
  • Provide engineering support to conduct formal trade studies based on engineering performance, effectiveness, cost-effectiveness, cost performance, life cycle cost, producibility, reliability, maintainability, risk, and schedule.
  • Provide proposal analysis support services that compare and quantify proposed systems, components, and approaches for technical feasibility, compatibility, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Provide concepts and requirements analyses support services including, but not limited to, reviewing and analyzing:
  • Initial Capabilities Documents; CDDs; CPDs; AoAs; Military Utility Assessments (MUAs); CONOPS; Technology Development Strategies; Functional Configuration Audits/Physical Configuration Audits (FCAs/PCAs), and; Technology Standards Profiles.

Education and Experience:

  • Must have one of the following combinations of education and experience.
    • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited college and five (5) years of professional experience OR 
    • Master's degree and three (3) years of professional experience. (Undergraduate engineering degree must be from an ABET-accredited college.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

  • This is a full-time position requiring 40 hours per week and offers a flexible work schedule Monday through Friday during core business hours.

Other Position Requirements:

  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship is a requirement for this position.
  • Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
