Job Overview
To organize and coordinate facility and community resources to provide quality resident recreation programs as developed by Activities Director that meet the needs and interests of all residents.
Essential Duties
1. Carry out activities program assignments as directed.
2. Responsible for the supervision and protection of residents during activities programs and outings and compliance with safety regulations and policies.
3. Provide personalized services for residents which may include writing letters, running errands etc.
4. Assists in maintaining a supply of books, magazines, DVDs etc., that is readily accessible to residents.
5. Shop with or for facility residents as directed by supervisor.
6. Assists as needed to keep room tidy and safe for resident.
7. Attends in-service meetings and staff meetings as required.
8. Willing to learn to drive a facility van if requested by director.
9. And all other duties as assigned by Activities Director.
Physical Demands of the Job:
1. Frequent tasks involving walking throughout the shift. Distances typically less than 200 feet with occasional walking greater distance, walking is on even surfaces.
2. Occasional sitting during duties.
3. Occasional standing, does not need to be static.
4. Occasional squatting and/or bending, necessary mostly during medication pass or residents assessment.
5. Lifting up to 10 lbs. frequently, 11 to 25 lbs. occasionally, 26 to 50 lbs. seldom and lifting greater than 50 lbs. is not required.
6. Repetitive movements requires following proper body mechanics. Notify supervisor of any concerns. Fine repetitive motor skills will be used frequently; gross repetitive motor skills will be used occasionally.
7. Occasionally push/pull up to 25 pounds of force.
8. Occasional twisting, seldom climb or use stairs; never crawl.
9. Frequently reach from shoulder height to knees; seldom reach above shoulders or below knees.
Conditions of Environment
1. Controlled temperature, primarily indoor, well lit, maintained flooring, smoke free and occasional odors that dissipate. The noise level is maintained quiet to moderate. Areas of Moisture exposure during bathing process.
Basic Qualification
Education/Training: Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Skills: Have flexibility to work varied hours, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Be able to perform any physical duties related to position, i.e., moving wheelchairs, lifting/ moving activities equipment, etc. Have or obtain food handlers permit and CPR card.
Experience: Previous experience in activities programs and/or arts and crafts preferred.
Previous experience in a hospital, nursing home or with the elderly or infirm is preferred.

d. Promotes customer service with residents, family members and guests.
e. Adheres to requirements for in-service training; attendance, uniform, department and dress code policies, including personal hygiene, and completes other work duties as assigned.
