What are the responsibilities and job description for the Service Technician position at Hydmech USA?

The Service Technician will assist our distributors and end users both in the field and over the phone in repair of industrial metal cutting saws. In addition to service functions also perform final inspection of finished machines before shipment. Due to the operation of Heavy Equipment this is a Safety Sensitive position.

STARTING HOURLY WAGE RATE: $18.75

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Specific Duties for this position include: Trouble shooting problems in mechanical, electrical, electronics, hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Instruct distributors and or end users in repair of band saw machines. Travel to distributor or end user cites to repair equipment. Travel to end user location to install new equipment. Studies electrical, electronic, hydraulic, pneumatics and mechanical schematics and technical drawings in finding solutions to problems. Perform in house final inspection of machines before shipment. Update field service issues in company Service Database (HEAT) Operate heavy machinery including, but not limited to; crane, electric pallet jack, forklift, and the machine or machines being assembled Have the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner General Duties: Perform all work in compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA). Complete all job tasks in a timely manner while maintaining quality results. Maintain all necessary documentation. Ensure that his/her workstation area is kept clean and orderly on a daily basis. Use all tools and equipment properly. Assist in other areas of the department when required. Train new and/or other workers as required to perform the job tasks. Improve level of knowledge and skills through additional training.

Safety and Security – Understands and practices all safety and security procedures. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 30 pounds (13.6 kg) and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds (22.7 kg). Concentrate for long periods of time.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Minimum Education/Experience: High school diploma (or equivalent) 3 years of relevant work experience Experience in millwright or auto mechanic trade preferred Language Ability: Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, short correspondence, and memos in the English language; Ability to write simple correspondence; Ability to effectively present information in one-on- one and small group situations with suppliers, technical representatives, or other employees of the organization.Math Ability: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; Ability to deal with problems involving several distinct variables in standardized situations. Computer Skills: Basic PC word processing and spreadsheet skills are recommended.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS - The work environment characteristics and physical demands described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job: Most of the job duties are performed in an office environment. The employee is occasionally exposed to shop floor environment. Hazards which may be encountered on the shop floor are motorized material handling equipment, moving machinery parts, chemicals, dust, and noise. He/she is required to wear safety shoes and safety glasses when entering the shop floor environment. The noise level in the work environment is low, with the exception of shop floor. The employee may be exposed to humidity and cold or hot temperatures.

Note: Other or related duties may be assigned to this job position from time to time.

Pay: $11.00 - $20.99 per hour
