Job Summary: Responsible for the planning and execution of the day-to-day activities of the packing department and employees to ensure product is moved through production to logistics in the safest and most cost-effective manner. Directs and coordinates all packing operations to obtain optimum use of equipment, facilities, and personnel.

Required Education/Experience:

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• Strong computer skills. Use of multiple operating business systems, proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar leadership role

Job Responsibilities:

• Oversees day to day operations in the Packing Department and evaluates and performs functions of safety, staffing, quality, housekeeping, delivery, and cost of manufacturing
• Fosters an environment that allows staff and responsible departments to interact and develop processes and procedures that comply with Plant Manager’s directives and promotes continuous improvement
• Recommends capital expenditures for acquisition of new equipment to increase efficiency and services of packing department
• Approves requisitions for equipment, materials and supplies within limits of department budget
• Enforces compliance with administrative policies, procedures, safety rules and governmental regulations
• Verifies that employees are following department & company requirements and standards
• Audits random bundles to verify piece count, length and finish and verifies bundle tag/ batch tags are placed correctly with accurate information
• Investigates causes of customer or other complaints and responds accordingly
• Carries out responsibilities in accordance with organizations’ policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, making hiring decisions, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding, and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
