Currently, HGL has a fully remote position open for an Associate Engineer
Responsibilities/Duties
The successful candidate is one who is willing to travel and explore various locations across the U.S. Staff will meet individuals from varying backgrounds and be challenged with complex engineering problems. Communication is a key factor for this role. Sampling knowledge and applications is a plus. Tasks for this position may also include assisting in deliverables, calculations, map and drawing development, and data entry. Knowledge of PFAS sampling and treatment systems is preferred.
Required Skills
- Strong communication, organization, and field documentation skills.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to travel approximately 50% per year to various job sites around the U.S.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications.
Required Experience
- 2-4 years of related fieldwork experience (including groundwater sampling, sediment/soil/surface water sampling).
- Understanding of as-builts, engineering construction plans, and communicating changes in field conditions.
- Knowledge and experience with RCRA, CERCLA, DoD, or USEPA projects
- Operations and Maintenance (O&M) with basic understanding of plumbing and electrical.
Required Education
- B.A. / B.S. degree in an engineering field such as: Civil Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- 40-Hour HAZWOPER training.
- PFAS remediation, treatment system support and sampling knowledge.
- Experience with installation of residential water treatment systems such as Point of Entry Treatment Systems (POETS) or Point of Use Treatment Systems (POUTS).
- Field subcontractor oversight.
- Oversight of remedial actions (including soil excavations, amendment injections, and treatment system construction).
- Oversight of soil boring completion and well installations activities.
- Experience with remedial system design.
- Preparation of work plans and project deliverables (e.g., QAPPs, FSPs, RI/FS Reports, SSHP/HASPs, technical memoranda).
- Environmental regulatory permitting and compliance experience.
