POSITION DESCRIPTION
HGL operates groundwater treatment systems for the US Army Corp of Engineers between north central New Jersey and southern New Jersey. The successful candidate will train under the current plant operator and will be responsible for but not limited too;
- operation, maintenance,
- sampling,
- responding to alarms,
- working with and overseeing subcontractors,
- preparing required daily, weekly and monthly reports,
- preparing weekly and monthly reports, and
- attending and participating in monthly progress meetings.
Responsibilities/Duties
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
The person hired for this role will be responsible for assisting with various field assignments including operation and maintenance of groundwater treatment systems, site inspections and reports; collecting environmental samples; responding to alarms; and, overseeing subcontractors, at a minimum. A monthly stipend is provided for personal vehicle use.
Required Skills
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL
The ideal candidate will need the following as a foundation for success in this role: Treatment Plant Operations experience including but not limited to:
- Working with SCADA systems and remotely monitoring system operations,
- Air Stripper operations and maintenance (both packed tower and shallow tray strippers)
- Carbon adsorption (liquid and vapor phase) systems
- Chemical treatment (coagulation, flocculation and sedimentation)
- pH adjustment (caustic soda, lime slaking, calcium hydroxide)
- Environmental sampling including groundwater, air, and soil media.
Preferred Skills
WHAT YOU NEED TO STAND OUT
- Minimum of 2-year degree in trade or technical school; 4 year degree preferred.
- Minimum of an N2 NJDEP Industrial Wastewater Treatment Plant Operators License
