What are the responsibilities and job description for the EH&S Specialist position at IAC Group?
POSITION SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS (PSR):
Maintain facility compliance with all applicable MIOSHA, MDEQ, & MDOT regulations.
Formulate, administer and document proper recordkeeping of safety training programs for supervisors and employees.
Plant Workers' Compensation liaison to manage Workers' Compensation cases, recordkeeping, etc. to ensure compliance with Michigan State Laws governing Workers' Compensation and Corporate Safety WC Directives. Ensure OSHA Recordkeeping and EH&S Log are timely and accurately maintained.
Reviews and maintains incident reports. Investigates incidents and ensures corrective action is taken by supervisors to eliminate incident causes. Ensures IAC Fast Fax Procedure is adhered to.
Serve as Safety / Ergonomic Committee Chairman coordinating committee activities to assist the plant in meeting company objectives.
Ensure compliance with Corporate Safety Key Elements and all other directives.
Coordinate and administer ISO14001 compliance per procedure.
Coordinate and the plant Emergency Action Plan, including emergency evacuation, fire prevention and ensuring that the appropriate training for all employees is complete.
Coordinate and administer the Hearing Conservation Program in accordance with MIOSHA Part 380.
Coordinate and ensure First Aid / CPR / Bloodborne Pathogen Training is conducted annually for all Supervisors and Managers of Hourly Employees.
Coordinates Industrial Hygiene studies being performed per plant and corporate procedures. Communicates results and confers with appropriate individuals to resolve problems when noted.
Prepares and timely submits required monthly, weekly or daily reports on the status of safety, environmental and Workers' Comp Costs.
Acts as a liaison between IAC and local public owned treatment works, Michigan Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) and the DEQ. Submits semi-annual compliance report and conducts plant inspections when required. Insures compliance with MDEQ issued Storm Water permit.
Keep operation log for spill prevention, maintain inventory and ensure proper disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste.
Coordinates, as required, preparation of the shipments and confirms proper labeling and loading of such material. Confirms accurate preparation of manifests and any other associated documents.
Maintains working knowledge of 40 CFR and 49CFR and acts as plant expert in the transporting of hazardous waste and hazardous material. Conducts annual training of hazardous waste handlers per DOT guidelines.
Complies with regulations outlined by EPA, issues required reports, and acts as a liaison between IAC and Region 7 EPA inspections when required.
Submits all required Sara Title III, Tier II Reports to appropriate agencies.
Submits all applications for air permits to Michigan Department of Environmental Quality.
Submits Form R reports to EPA.
Prepares annual corporate environmental report describing resource usage and waste quantities.
Maintain HR Department standards of confidentiality (e.g. HIPPA requirements) and professionalism.
Adhere to and maintain all departmental, plant, and corporate goals, policies, and procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree and/or equivalent experience
